US media is not going to state that a famous person died of AIDS unless the family and their advisors say it is ok to do so.
Media never even stated that Michael had HIV/AIDS, although most of us assumed that he did.

He probably died of a drug overdose or something else. Or maybe it was pneumonia. He was rather chunky in his newer pictures. He did have problems with drug addiction.
