She's now in full election mode. Hope the Germans can see through her.

Merkel also had bullish words on the refugee crisis, saying “a situation like the one seen in the summer of 2015 should and may not be repeated. That was and remains my stated political goal.”

Closest she's come to admitting it was a massive balls-up.

So I guess you are for forced integration of muslims on the entire world, typical lib thinking.

Ok...I don't understand your reply there, but hey at least you thought of some way to insult me right...good for you.

Anon, like it or not,

1) Refugees are not the One-and-only-topic in Germany as it is on this message board.

2) Burqa bans may appeal to the simple citizen as a sort of "Yeah, we showed them muslims the middle finger" but are no mean in intelligent politics, it's only "Symbol politics". The worst case it leads to is that we may see less burqas on the street while falling back into these times of the 80ies

Truth is: there are very few regions in Germany where You can see burqas anyway
(personally I never saw any in my whole life ... ) - and in fact You see one it might turn out that it is a woman of a super rich Saudi business man ...

3) If you want to warn us to elect Merkel again You first should have a look on the alternatives ...

Although I don't vote her, she usually keeps her promises. One reason why she is rather successful: german people trust her. She does very low populism spout.

Closest she's come to admitting it was a massive balls-up.

She has been saying this for quite a long time now, but she also says it was necessary at this time in 2015. The refugees were already on the european continent. They would not just magically vanish, so a solution had to be found. Germany as one of the stronger countries in the area could handle the situation with increase staff and decision making whether asylum laws apply to each single individual. Thats what happens now, and a majority of the refugees will be sent back in compliance with EU/German laws.

" a majority of the refugees will be sent back in compliance with EU/German laws."

Can't see it somehow.

Well, it's already happening throughout 2016. It's just not dramatical and polarizing enough to make in on page 1 of international newspapers.

Of course you can not send back Syrians to Aleppo at this time, so I would assume Syrians are safe here for the next time. Some also go back by themselves, as they realize germany isnt all honey and milk.

It'll be a trickle, not a flood.

The police won't be able to even find most of those you want to send back.

Lol. Looking at our police and their possibilities, I have to agree. That can become an issue.

"The refugees were already on the European continent."

How many hundreds of thousands more came after her open door comments?

I want a Muzzie ban, not a burka ban.

Let them wear whatever they want in their own countries.

But they told me that women make wonderful leaders. Just having the right privates guarantees it.

lol

She's a fascist who poses as a liberal.

What good is a burka ban?
16 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-06 20:01
What a cynical, transparent, Hillary Clinton-like move. I hope Germany doesn't fall for her nonsense.
17 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-06 20:15
It's only news for international press. Merkel never spoke for Burka freedom, always said it's interfering with integration and that there should be rules and laws for it. She did not go into detail how strict those laws should be.

So you can definitely not speak of a Clinton-like turnaround, more of a minor course correction.

I found older articles, unfortunately only in german.

Hopefully Germans don't fall her her half assed election year measures.
19 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-06 21:01
Yeah, that's it Merkel, you disgusting traitor...flood your country with muzzies and then nitpick about how they display their female property in public.
20 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-06 21:15
I agree with her. You don't know who or what is under that burqa.
