With Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton about to become president and suddenly the boards aren't providing a positive experience?

It wouldn't surprise me that they are worried some liberal snowflake is going to Umpqua Community College and kills someone and blame 4ct for it.

It's political, but it has nothing to do with Hillary.

I wouldn't doubt if it is something involving politics because the "message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority" is complete B.S. It's the exact opposite of that statement.

I actually find a lot of the topics here to be pretty informative. I like knowing what people's opinions are regarding what's going on in the world. I come to the lounge board for news around the world instead of, say, a twisted and biased media outlet.

I doubt it. The boards are no better or worse than they were before or after Hillary becomes president.

The decision is corporate. Dozens and dozens of newspaper sites have shut down their social media functions for the same reason - free speech is the enemy of uniform thinking.

The internet has been incrementally heading this way since the inception of the internet.

At first there was NO "moderation" no censorship of any particular naughty words, and anything goes on the wild wild west! Such forums were called "newsgroups" and they were a ton of fun!

Then slowly but surely, the creeping meatball of corporate censorship began to appear and funnel internet ownership into fewer and fewer hands.

And then finally...poof!

No more free speech.

Message boards which provide free speech are a threat to her narrative.

Bingo. Perfect way to put it. If Trump wins the message boards most likely would have continued. Or if a RINO had won the boards would stay put. Fucking censorship.

The trolls are mostly relegated to the politics and bijou, there is not much of it in the individual boards except for a few of the major ones like lounge or vip.

There is easy ways to deal with trolls than just shutting the whole thing down.

Because the internet has made people entitled to taking away people's privacy. There is no right to that. IT has also enabled trolls and no one wants to be associated with that shit.

You're all wrong. There is a concerted effort amongst the tech giants of social media to crack down on trolling and fake news. This is particularly in the wake of the organized trolling efforts of the alt-right community. Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter have all been making changes. Someone with a brain probably noticed recently that 4ct too runs a rather large unmoderated message board filled with trolls and sock anons and called them out on it.
