4ct Message Boards Announcement
1 Name: ④ⓒⓣ™ : 2016-04-01 00:00
4ct is the world's most popular and authoritative source for message-board discussion. As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on 4ct, we have decided to disable 4ct's message boards on April 20, 2016. This includes the /Bijou/ Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that 4ct's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 7 trillion monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic.
Increasingly, 4ct customers have migrated to 4ct's social media accounts as the primary place they choose to post comments and communicate with 4ct's mods and one another. 4ct's Facebook page (
https://www.facebook.com/4ctorg) and official Twitter account (
https://twitter.com/4ctorg) have an audience of more than 10 trillion engaged fans. 4ct also maintains official accounts on Snapchat (
https://www.snapchat.com/add/4ctorg), Pinterest (
https://www.pinterest.com/4ctorg/), YouTube (
https://www.youtube.com/4ctorg), and Tumblr (
http://4ct.tumblr.com/).Because 4ct's message boards continue to be utilized by a small but passionate community of 4ct users, we announced our decision to disable our message boards on April 1, 2016 but will leave them open for two additional weeks so that users will have ample time to view any message board content they'd like to read for personal use. During this two-week transition period, which concludes on April 20, 2016, 4ct message board users can exchange contact information (via /bijou/) with any other board users they would like to remain in communication with (since once we shut down the 4ct message boards, Imageboards and /bijou/, users will no longer be able to send personal messages to one another). We regret any disappointment or frustration 4ct message board users may experience as a result of this decision.
4ct is passionately committed to providing innovative ways for our hundreds of millions of users to engage and communicate with one another. We will continue to enhance our current offerings and launch new features in 2017 and beyond that will help our customers communicate and express themselves in meaningful ways while leveraging emerging technologies and opportunities.

I have to think that a lot of their traffic comes from them and their advertisers aren't going to be too happy when it all goes away.
3 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 00:51
>>24ct boards don't have advertisers.
4 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 01:13
The Mods are dead and we killed 'em. Oh Invisible Forces of 4ct, why has thou forsaken us?
5 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 01:33
Its not wise, its an extremely stupid decision
6 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 01:55
The boards were the main reason I visited 4CT so I have to say I'm disappointed.
7 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 02:01
There won't really be a main reason to come here anymore.
8 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 02:18

Yeah, Facebook and Twitter can both die in a fire, as can 4ct now.
And what about the individual message boards for support, archive, bijou, etc.? How the hell does an 4ct Facebook page replace these?
9 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 02:29
It doesn't. It was bone headed decision but to be honest board members are a small minority of visitors of the website.
10 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:01
Really? I thought the main reason people came here was discuss the shit. If I want to find shit information about a shit, I can always go to Wikipedia.
11 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:10
>>10Yeah, but there is still a lot more on 4ct than on Wikipedia.
12 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:14
Wikipedia doesn't have the detailed discussion that 4ct has, especially for more obscure threads.
Of course the database part of 4ct will probably still exist after April 20, eh?
13 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:18
I have just spent a lot of time to make this one thread here far more comprehensive with lots of added data because wikipedia didn't have that info, and I love discussing threads. This board I don't care about, but the /newpol/ boards? Man this is a dark day indeed.
14 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:23
If that was true then boards about /lounge/ would be the some of the most active boards in the website.
Politics and Soapbox are probably the most active boards and lounge rarely get discussed.
I would argue that most people come here just to check the out the shitposts...
15 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:27
Yes, the main reason I come here is for the boards and bijou private messaging.
16 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:33
I dunno. I seem to remember that the Politics board was one of the most active continuous "political" message boards on the entire internet. That's a lot of lost traffic not looking at advertisements and being notified of SFBE and other events sponsored by RedCream.

You'll have to pretend to be a 87 year old army wanker else where!
18 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:41
This will just be the first of many changes before 4ct get's incorporated directly into tablecat lounge.
19 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2016-04-01 03:47
This seems like the dumbest business decision ever.
Are you telling me people visit this shitty site for reasons other than to comment?
Bye 4ct.
Dumb fúcks.
20 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:53
I would have to guess they were tired of monitoring all these boards for posts that they thought should be deleted. The original owner and mods of these boards were concerned with free speech.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is the beginning of the end for 4ct.
21 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 03:56
I think it will be good for those who hit the 500+ posts each week
Maybe they will go outside and actually experience reality for a change
22 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 04:04
Is 4CT even that much of a money-maker? I honestly have no idea.
23 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 04:11
Yeah, it's a free speech thing. You can't have people communicating with each other without restrictions or being exposed to different ideas.
Yahoo recently redid their comments sections too. If you noticed every time they ran one of their SJW type articles they would get massive thumbs downs and negative comments. Every single time. They changed it now to a system where you can't put a thumbs down, only a ❤️If you like the comment. It totally destroyed the system as a means to gauge public sentiment or to express dislike of a comment or story.
Really, all this happening now isn't a coincidence. They were going to crack down on free speech on the internet anyway, Trump winning has just sped it up.
24 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 04:17
It's probably more of a money thing with 4ct no longer thinking that maintaining the message boards is a worthwhile investment.
"Really, all this happening now isn't a coincidence."
Or it probably is.
25 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 04:21
Now that I think about it, yes, the only reason I stick around this site is for the message boards. This sucks.
The bigoted trolls did ruin it. I think the moderators got tired of moderating.
26 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 04:25
I think it is healthy to have someplace users can go to the anonymously express their thoughts and feelings on any issue --- especially hot button issues --- without fear of personal retaliation. People can't talk like this on Facebook.
I wonder where we will end up going after these message boards are shut down?
27 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 04:30
It's the correct decision.
The place is a plague pit of Trolls who are probably still at school.
Entropy always wins in the end.
28 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 04:43
I always thought these message boards were better when the original monitors operated these boards. Than when the new operators took over.
29 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 04:51
It has to be a herculean task to monitor all these boards. Every letter has its own image message board. And every topic in the text Boards has its own message board. The original monitors were concerned with money. These new monitors only care about free speech.
30 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 05:04
This is Why Trump will win!
Because the left cannot tolerate those with differing opinions.
Oh and the message boards are closing, because the left cannot tolerate differing opinions and need safe spaces.

32 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 05:26
>>30I think you're probably right. They liked the pre-internet media where all the information was controlled by a relative handful of people, the wide-open, everyone gets a platform thing that has evolved over the last twenty years has pissed powerful people off.
They known there is no going back, but they can redirect us to highly moderated places with less anonymity.
33 Name: The Road Warrior !G6BAMv1Qf2 : 2016-04-01 05:37
Well, I guess this is goodbye...
I know I wasn't the most popular dude here, but I just want to say goodbye to you all before the final shutdown of this board.
I have to admit I'm a little pissed and taken aback at the closure (yeah, yeah...I do need to get out more) but I'll just have to accept it and move on to my previous haunt of GameFAQs and perhaps other boards.
I'll miss this place and its quirks, though.

Barack Obama shutting down Free Speech...
starting with limiting/erasing comments on the net.
LOL I love it, you suckers deserve it
36 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 06:09
>>35Look, we only have a little while to counter your troll BS.
You want to see the reduction of free speech? Being a conservative for a day. Heck, even you pansy leftists turn on each other when it comes to speech.
The Left is constantly telling people what they can say and what is not acceptable (oh my no!)
You burn, riot, terrorize when someone might say something you don't like and you call all disagreement with your petty little lack of ideas as "hate speech"
Get with it.
37 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 06:15
I didn't like it when Obama said nothing about the rioting, but shutting down/restricting legitimate dissent is coming with this Hillary Clinton administration. Without a doubt.
You remember when Bush/Cheney declared either you are with us or you are with the terrorists? That mindset is coming, X1000, with Hillary Clinton's administration.
38 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 06:29
It's like I told you: she wants to repeal the First and second Amendment.
39 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 06:41
Sure she does... and the FACTS (action of Hillary in doing so) that support this claim.
40 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 06:51
Yeah, yeah... where are the FACTS to prove this claim?
41 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 06:59
uh she hates freedom of the press and wants the ability to stop the media from using free speech.
42 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 07:16
Reddit 4ct already becoming a swamp of depravity.
Someone solicited cactus mittens pictures and inferred they might get pulled by a moderator for crying out loud. Who would do such a thing?!
43 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 07:27
LIBERAL NOT JOBS are why they're shutting us down!
All the hateful chit you've been saying.
Happy?
44 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 07:35
Yep they love to destroy.
45 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 07:49
"LIBERAL NOT JOBS"
Sounds like a good reason
I guess this is just another case of Hilldog making good on one of her promises
Not sure if this falls under shutting down parts of the internet or suing the media for unflattering articles about her.
But you guys are right. She is doing what she said she would do
46 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 08:10
Let 4ct hear what you think!
...and not like this board ain't the special forces training camp on scathing comments....lol

Here to see crackheads say 4ct is silencing their freedom of speech.
Try telling me there aren't a bunch of crackheads and trolls who think that it's all some whacked out conspiracy from the "liberal media" or from "SJW" to silence them.
61 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 12:24

Update on 4ct situation.
Good morning. In less than 19 days, 4ct will be launching the largest message board battle in the history of mankind.
"Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the 1st of April, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, Trump, Brexit or persecution... but from being wiped.
We are fighting for our right to post stupid messages. To exist.
And should we win the day, the 1st of April will no longer be known as a so-what day, but as the day the 4ct members declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!"
"We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our INDEPENDENCE DAY!!"
71 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 14:12
Lots of sites have shut down message boards / comment sections.
They only want the sjw authors of their articles, the proganda, to be heard.
Obama did this?

Liberals are desperate. Their ideology has been massively rejected and they've lost control of the narrative, which is all they ever had.
Look for them to continue to try and silence the speech of the opposition. This is just the start. There will be more events like the one in Roye the other night.
The political left has declared war on free speech.
80 Name: Anonymous : 2016-04-01 16:33
You seem to forget fake news sites worked on Conservatives, not liberals.
