Do any of you think political philosophy is a true branch of philosophy since it really does not answer any of lifes questions but rather it is a set of principles for one to live by?

I dont really study anykind of philosophy outside of politics but I have been known to read a little Plato or Hegel.

Branches are merely bureaucratic divisions used in the academic world. Philosophy is a set of methods to study the reality.

I understand, I am an academic, so I guess it was second nature for me to use that phrase.

But now I've thought about it, Yes, since political philosophy is more than a set of principles, it's a manner of approach to the area of politics, which can include questioning theories of political thought.
