Who was worse between Walter Peck (William Atherton's character) on Ghostbusters (1984) or Jack Hardemeyer (Kurt Fuller's character) on Ghostbusters II (1989)

I've personally found Jack Hardemeyer to be the worst of these two characters.

Peck at least didn't have them committed.

"Everything was fine with our system until the power grid was shut off by dickless here."

They were both pretty bad, but if I had to choose, I'd say Peck was marginally worse. Hardemeyer was a prick, but at least it was somewhat understandable since he was working for the mayor and his best interests in mind. Peck's behavior was mostly rooted in the fact that he had felt belittled by Venkman and was trying to get even with him.

I also hated that smirk Hardemeyer would give whenever it seems like he is getting his way by ruining the Ghostbusters.

Hardemeyer was mainly a lite-version of Walter Peck.

Even though he was jerky William Atherton, when you think about it Peck was actually trying to do the right thing. Hardemeyer was just an a$$hole all the way. Even the mayor was about to put his foot in his ass when he found out the Ghostbusters were committed.

Well, Peck acted almost completely out of spite and had the containment field shut down, even after he was told what would happen. He was 100% responsible for letting all those ghosts out and could have doomed the city.

Hardemeyer was a jerk, too, but was trying to protect his boss, the mayor, from possibly losing votes by being associated with the Ghostbusters. He overstepped his bounds by having them committed, though.

I'd say Peck was worse, but it is close.

Walter Peck came out more of a bigger jerk IMO
