The Scalia way. It's really so infuriating. It gets more absurd the more I think about it. Yes, some people have a problem with adding or subtracting points based on race, I would be one of those people, although I don't know whether it's right or wrong because I haven't looked into the situation seriously. It comes off as absurd, but maybe there's a point. But to downright say blacks should go to easier colleges than whites. Excuse me? How would this have gone over in 1960, I wouldn't be surprised if that could get him removed from his position then. He doesn't get a special pass for making a brash point just to open a dialogue, he's too qualified. He should have known exactly what he's saying, and he said black people should go to less advanced colleges than whites.

You're free to post exactly what he said, unless you don't want to because you'd realize that is what he said. I just read it. Really it's pretty infuriating. He's free to criticize affirmitive action until he's blue in the face, that is not what he did.

And omitted the likely truth that it would lead to an increase in students of Asiatic descent, because bringing them up would make the attorney himself sound racist. The almost instinctive conservative response to all of this is to ask, "so what?" But perhaps that's not good enough. We have to go on to explain how the unbalanced admission standards might put Black people, Latinos and females at a disadvantage, but we don't necessarily do it very well, which is a problem.

I think he'd make the same argument for anyone who didn't get in by did because of some arbitrary reason

I don't think that Scalia would have a problem saying that it wasn't fair that asians have to score HIGHER to get into the scame schools

What I read is that he said that under-qualified minorities who are nonetheless accepted to elite universities based on their race might well face the prospect of failure, which would be ultimately detrimental to them, which is a reasonable statement.

He said nothing about blacks in general.

Of course all of the teachers in the Asian school would have to be white.

All the teachers in the black school would have to be Asian.

And all the teachers in the white school would have to be black.

Even then, you're not going see any marked difference in standardized test scores.
