This is what feminists should be concerned about

Now this is where women are really treated like dirt by a savage patriarchal society.

This article is about disturbing "cultural norms" in the middle east and Afghanistan that we are supposed to not interfere with. Blood-curdling stuff for sure.

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/424391/afghanistan-child-rape-american-troops

"He was right, at least about the beatings. In the fundamentalist area of Iraq where we patrolled, men would beat women casually, shoving them and striking them to demonstrate control, then resorting to savagery if they felt that a woman had looked too long at an American, or had made eye contact. The beatings weren’t confined to women. Horrific acts of child abuse would take place out in the open, and older kids would sometimes beat younger kids senseless — kicking them again and again while they lay on the ground — to steal a pencil or a piece of candy.

The concept of “honor” imposed on women was so twisted that rape became al-Qaeda’s most effective method of “recruiting” female suicide bombers. After being sexually assaulted by terrorists, Iraqi women would face an obligation to “redeem” themselves through an act of holy martyrdom."

Not at all.

Those women aren't white, western and wealthy.

Why would Feminists care at all?
3 Name: Anonymous : 2015-11-24 18:26
They keep quiet because --- as it is with all on the left --- it's not allowed to criticize Islam, it's politically incorrect.

Just like they were with the sexual harasser and probable rapist Bill Clinton.

Of course feminists care! If they don't, they're not really feminists, are they?

Now this is where women are really treated like dirt by a savage patriarchal society.

A reality fully acknowledged by feminist groups/organizations.

I recall an American feminist org raising/donating money to build schools for GIRLS in Afghanistan & Iraq (Jay Leno's wife was involved), along with business loans for female-owned (Muslim) enterprises and other efforts.

Why do anti-feminists persist in constructing "straw man" arguments?

They might be concerned to some degree, but they seem much more vocal about first world problems in the U.S., etc.
8 Name: Anonymous : 2015-11-24 18:42
Whining about feminists seems a pretty "first world problem" as well.
Get a girlfriend and it won't seem so bad.

Not everyone needs such a deep personal relationship with their hand like you asstard.

^I see what you did there comrade! You're so clever, by Classwar standards at least.

Get a girlfriend and it won't seem so bad.

Have you got a girlfriend Anon......or has she got a puncture at the moment?

A reality fully acknowledged by feminist groups/organizations.

"Feminist journalists like to speculate about the future of activism among women today, but you can leaf through a fat sheaf of their articles without encountering a mention of Muslim women. Feminist professors, for their part, show even less interest. Trolling through the 40-page program of the European Conference on Politics and Gender, held in Belfast last winter, I found feminist scholars (from Europe, the United States and Canada) dealing with women's political opportunities, the implications for women of new medical technology, the politics of fashion and even women's response to climate change. What I couldn't find was even one lecture or discussion devoted to so-called "honour killing." Nor was there any mention of the thousands upon thousands of women routinely flogged, raped, imprisoned or stoned to death, often with the tacit or explicit agreement of Islamic governments.

The funny thing about female oppression in the Middle East....is that you'd have to criticize their religion in order to make your points.

People are so Liberal and overly politically correct in 2015....they can't dare criticize someone's religion, even if it promotes sexism.

This is why many things in Islam get a free pass from feminists.
13 Name: Anonymous : 2015-11-24 18:52
You can critcise someone's behaviour without criticising the religion they use as an excuse for it can't you?
14 Name: Anonymous : 2015-11-24 18:54
Pedophile priests were held to be representative of Catholicism.
15 Name: Anonymous : 2015-11-24 18:56
You'd think that. I mean, that only makes sense, right?

But people in 2015 have seriously thrown all logic and reason out the window....in place of their extremely SJW ways.

If someone's behavior is caused by their religion....you CANNOT criticize them for it. Otherwise you are being oppressive and shaming them for their cultural beliefs.

And you'll probably be seen as a racist as well.

You probably think I am being sarcastic, but this is exactly how it is.

You'll never see feminists bashing all the female oppression in the middle east for this very reason. They don't want to shame their religion and culture. It's untouchable.

Feminists are perfectly happy to attack Christians. But since Muslims are primarily black or brown skinned criticicing Islam would, as Pat Connell put it "instantly make them racists and Islamophobes and disgusting imperialist, ethnocentric Fascist bastards grinding their jack boots into the faces of the innocent and the week. So best not make a fuss."

Great, a bloke telling feminists what to be concerned about.
18 Name: Anonymous : 2015-11-24 19:03
What are feminists supposed to do about it and how do you know they arent concerned?

Just like the game of 'how can anyone defend muslim and attack christians?' strawman, Americans are concerned about what happens in America first, as we all should be.

Just because something happens on the other side of the world, completely out of our control, doesnt mean people arent concerned or effected by it.

Haven't you heard? Calling Anita Sarkisian a liar over the Internet is just as bad as stoning a woman to death for being raped.

"Americansis are concerned about what happens in America first"

You mean like t-shirts with scantily clad women, calling someone a liar over the Internet and the horrific unmitigated evil of catcalling? Yeah we should really be worried about how oppressive these things are.

What are feminists supposed to do about it

Well if they follow modern tradition: whinge and moan about it extensively across social media whilst narcissistically intimating just how tough life personally is for them in an ever unconvincing manner....

Though in reality it's more commonly: whinge and moan about those who are openly critical of Islam across social media for being 'Islamophobes'!

and how do you know they arent concerned?

Well the blatant scarcity of feminists actively and consistently scrutinising, confronting and even acknowledging the less palatable aspects of Islam whilst eagerly denouncing those who do, gives it away really. Mostly for the reasons outlined above.

We both know that feminists - like most of the political Left, tend to turn a quite deliberate blind eye to Islam more often than not and it's hardly surprising considering that such folk are often strongly affiliated or else directly involved with far left groups who typically advocate placating Muslims whilst accomadating their every demand (both real and imagined), lest anyone be accused of 'Islamophobia', or worse: 'right-wing'.

Just because something happens on the other side of the world, completely out of our control

With exponentially expanding Muslim communities now prevelant in most western countries I'm not sure one can so readily dismiss the problems their religion invariably induces as being "on the other side of the world" these days tbh.

Feminists are still mostly, and uncharacteristically, silent though for the most part.

While I don't see myself as a feminist,I do believe in equal pay for equal work etc, so where were you (any of you) when the Taliban was going to blow up those ancient statues? I was saying forget the statues what about the women? Most of you hadn't a clue about Islam's treatment of women until it was brought to your attention after 9-11.

The answer to the first question is "nothing. Feminists in America have ZERO influence on muslim nations, and the muslim religion. And the things that are cited that they 'should be concerned about' happen on the other side of the world."

The answer to the second question is that a lot of muslim women accept that this is part of the religion they belong to. Feminists cant change that nor can they change how the religion operates.

The response to the third point is that there are Islamic feminists who work within the religion. Outsiders arent allowed in.

This is just strawman bs.

Right wingers dont give a sh!t about this. Hell, they want to send Americans to Iraq to defend muslims while at the same time trying to convince us that all muslims support terrorism.

The only time they pretend to care about how islamic women are treated is when they can (in their mind) use it against liberal, feminists and anyone else right of center.

Basically it's just another issue that is tossed around to score a political point.
