The types of people who are adamant about it being a certain way on either side are the ones who trouble me. Why does Bond have to be black all of a sudden? Why does Bond have to be white? He's a fictional character. Artists take liberties when adapting source material all the time. Anyone who is adamant about it being either way, comes across as piddling, petulant and insecure. At the end of the day, it is up to the filmmakers to make a great film. THAT is all that really matters.

I want a Chinese dwarf to portray him. Fleming would clearly want that to happen. It's just fiction, after all.

I'll translate for you. Leaping to the most unlikely/absurd scenario possible in order to argue against something that is perfectly reasonable is an invalid form of argument.

As for your ridiculous "white Roots" comment... it should be clear enough that the race of the characters in that story are essential to the story since it's about black slavery. However, there is nothing about the character of James Bond that mandates he be a while guy. You wouldn't have to change the fundamental nature of the story one bit if Bond were black.

I'm just still sad about the black version of The Honeymooners, I guess. If a film is good, that's really I care about. Why no consideration of a Latino Bond yet?

If we get down to brass tacks, Connery wasn't the picture of Bond we get from the books either, so...whatever I suppose.
