Are we on the tail end of the "golden age" of the internet?

Think about it. Governments are putting more and more restrictions on what you can view/post, real unlimited data plans are a thing of the past. Kids, old people and soccer moms are now computer and internet literate, and all their regulatory, politically correct bullshit will soon follow. You can't hardly open an internet browser without Google tracking everything you do and bombarding you with ads, "personalized" search results of what they *think* you want to see, or want you to see, and everywhere you turn some person/organization/entity is trying to get you to "network" and connect all your devices and accounts to one another and give everything access/permissions to everything else.

I don't think the internet is dying out, but fear that it will soon be heavily regulated, restricted, processed, filtered, etc, etc, like TV, radio and other things are. You won't be able to just whip up any old website and post whatever random things anymore, you'll have to apply and get approved and only do things through official channels and such.

Technical restrictions only apply to normalfags.

Governmental restrictions and opt-out trackers are no more going to end the golden age of the internet than locked bootloaders and carrier restrictions will end phone customization, or DRM will end music and movie sharing.

Internet is dying. In the future, it will be rendered än annoying service everyone dislikes to use, but still be relient on. Kinda like public transportation.
