/lounge/, I was an idiot and soon to be homeless. I was a victim of an internet scheme.
My girlfriend and I will (were?) going to move from London to Berlin for two months. It was a long planned vacation, after three years without one. We put together our savings and she found a flat on wg-gesucht dot de, pretty legit.
She asked me for my half of the money last week, as she would need it for the deposit. Alright, I though.
She transferred it to me, in Berlin, through the also legit Western Union. But someone took our money on the way.
I don't know exactly how, but someone faked to be me and got it all from Germany. Now I don't have a flat and pretty much no money at all for next month. I have already gave notice to leave this flat, and currently figuring out how to get out of this shit.
tl;dr lost all my money in fake transfer
wutdo?

I don't quite understand,
>>1. Your girlfriend transferred money to you through WU and someone else claimed it, right? Isn't that the fault of WU for not verifying the recipient?
How is it related to an internet scheme?

Same sort of thing happened to my friend. He was on holiday overseas. We all (friends and family) got an email saying he got robbed has no money and needs to cut his holiday short and get home. We were all pretty suspicious. However his bank manager also got the email and sent 5K to the nominated bank account. Money was gone never to seen again. Its shit bro. Best of luck.
