Laser pointers at work

Dumbfag here in need of urgent help, get in here and give it a shot or simply tell me how retarded I am.
I'm around laser pointers at work (building sites, using lasers to get a level etc) and I'm worried about eye damage
The warnings say "never look directly into any laser beam."
So, does that mean never look at the LENS of a laser, even on an angle, or;
Don't look at a laser directly IN LINE with the beam.
I should be fine, no matter if it's a strong laser. Right?
I'm OCD as fuck and whenever I see a bright object I can't help but look directly at it (lasers in this case). 99.99% of the time I'm not directly in line with it so I think I'm fine.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how dumb am I? Google didn't help

Don't point the laser (line [kek]) into your eye.
You are 9/10 retarded, at least you asked about this.

Direct line, but even still, they're not powerful enough to do any damage from a quick flash anyway, it's just legal that they have to print that on all laser products.

>>1It will be fine as long as you are not shining the laser directly into your eye, even then I have a hard time believing that would damage your eye sight significantly. Hell they use lasers to fix things like cataracts in the eye.

>>4No you arnt going to hurt yourself unless the beam hits you in the eye (reflected beams are often strong enough). Still it rarely does damage, when i was at school decades ago they were the "in" thing and every knobhead was pointing them at your eyes, didnt do any harm though there was always a story about "that one kid that went blind" blah blah

>>6If you had to work around dumbfuck redkneck workmates wielding lasers with no warning all fucking day you'd be on edge too.
HEY BRO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, coming from some rough cunt doesn't do much to ease your fears. Especially when these are the guys who are showing you the ropes.
>>3chur. So if I'm looking directly at the lense but on and angle I'm fine then? Cause it still feels like I'm getting stunned. Thanks

>>7 lasers are lasers because the light is very very direct and focused, they arnt flashlights. The bean can literally be pointed at your forehead and not hurt your eyes. You may be dazzled a little by the small amount of scattered light from the lens but its minimal and not damaging.
