Punched in the face
1 Name: Anonymous : 2015-05-16 23:30
What does it feel like to get punched in the face? I just turned 30 and I've never been in a fight. I was thinking of going and taking some mui Thai or kick boxing classes and doing some sparring and shit to get a feel for it. I almost got in a fight the other day and I realized that I've never been hit and I have no clue how both I'd react to it. I think if I get hit in the face a bunch ill be desensitized to it.

it isn't like the movies, once you get hit in the head/face you get pretty dazed. always keep your hands up.

it's not that bad. the nose can hurt because it kind of has this difficult to explain additional pain to it. i've been punched in the face a few times and it mostly just hurts for a little bit.

>>3well it hurts, but if you're in a fight you won't notice the pain too much, unless you get some ko type shit in your face, then you'll notice it most def

It depends on where the punch lands. Getting punched in the nose or temple are the worst because you get dazed as fuck and that gives the other guy an upper hand in the fight.
Getting knocked out is not painful but embarrassing as fuck when you wake up.

>>1I wonder the exact same thing, except I wonder what it's like to have your balls chopped off and there aren't any classes for that.

>>1You don't feel it as much as you might think when you get punched and during the fight. Adrenaline is your friend. Afterwards you may be hurting.

>>1Go ask someone that question in real life. Odds are they'll probably punch you in the face, I know I would.

>>1A good thing to now is that it is that the body/brain does not WANT to be hit in the face.
I've been doing martial arts on and off for ... well... 4-5 years, and if i have a lay off my reflexes are realy to turn my face away, and to close my eyes.
Not really answering the question about how it feeeels, but if you ever get in a fight be prepared for all kinds of involuntary movements/reflexes from your body.

Some faggot punched me in the face
just stood there thinking 'did you just hit me in the face??'
so he did it again, since i think he expected it would knock me out or something.
After that I decided, 'whelp, better respond'
Grab his arm, kick his leg out, and slam him into a wall
Don't stop, keep shoving him towards the door
He picks up this large nitrous gas cannister, uses all his strength to throw it at me
I swat it out of the air and grab a bat
he runs
went better than expected. as long as you're not facing an opponent who's actually a trained fighter and/or much bigger than you, once you get over the shock of 'holy shit this is actually going to be a fight' you just gotta do it, you'll be more confident afterwards win or lose.

Have to agree with what a lot of people are saying. That is, it's not too bad unless they hit you on the nose. The nose stuns you for a bit and probably will cause your eyes to water so that you're distracted and look like a bitch at the same time.

>>1Despite what all the 'experts' are saying....
When you get in a fight and get hit you don't really feel any pain at the time, your adreline starts pumping and you go into almost like a daze,
By the end of the fight you can't really tell how much you've been hit etc, and you won't feel it til the next day....And boy the next day your whole body aches, I don't care how tough you are, it does... And your neck will hurt more than your face anyway cos you will have almost like whiplash.
Not explained very well but there you go...
Plus a few days after you'll forget about it all anyway

>>14it's all true though. don't know why a skinny little faggot decided to repeatedly swing on someone who was 4" taller and 150lbs heavier. not my fault my junkie girlfriend stole his money to go buy us pills.

>>1Nose is definitely the worst. Getting hit on the side of the head is alright. But if it happens a couple of times, you're out.

Actually a good idea to get some sparring gloves and get a feel for what it feels like to get punched in the head.
If you get dazed easily, you have a glass jaw and should avoid fighting as much as possible.
If you have an iron jaw, you may be able to take on people much larger than you and win on endurance alone.
WARNING! if you ever get a concussion (knocked out) you will become more and more susceptible to them with every concussion you endure.

>>1It's okay. In my experience, it never seems to hurt that much (not many nerve endings in the face), just makes your head jerk back quite hard and is disorientating. It's really not that bad, despite what people think faces are quite durable
source: I have had my eyebrow split by some guy who punched me with a ring on, i have had my tooth knocked out by my friend and got punched in a fight about two weeks ago

American martial art

American't believe you said that

>>22I didn't say the US invented boxing, after all I think men have been punching each other in the face for longer than recorded history. But I would say we've come closest to perfecting it. America has a rich history in boxing and in just a hundred years we went from barefisted brawls to boxers like Willie Pep and Robinson. The growth of technique in American boxing has undeniably made the sport into what it is today. Americans have also spread boxing to the rest of the world, the Philippines, Japan, and Korea all took up the sport following WWII.

1st Dan in Tang Soo Do here.
The first time you get hit in the face in a real fight you're going to be a little dazed if you're not trained. Not necessarily dazed from the physical hit, but psychologically dazed over the fact that someone actually hit you. And sometimes that's worse.
Go train. You'll get hit countless times in a controlled environment with people you trust. Then, when it happens on the street, you'll react accordingly without the element of surprise paralyzing you.

I'm no expert but I've been smacked a few times. Feels pretty good, adrenaline goes crazy and you feel like scarface. Of course, the next morning when you are blowing blood out of a swollen nose with a headache it feels like shit. But at the time, yeah it's fucking amazing!
26 Name: Anonymous : 2015-05-17 01:32
>>1It's not as bad at the time as it is later generally. Adrenaline helps a lot. Getting hit in the nose hard enough will make your eyes water quite a bit though which isn't fun. Otherwise you're probably good to go unless you get absolutely cracked in the jaw, which you shouldn't if you're at all competent. Even then it depends on how good your jaw naturally is, you might be fine or you might be dazed for a bit or you might be out like a light. Best advice is to not let that happen so you don't have to worry about it.
>>15This guy's right about your neck hurting too. Probably more than your face.

Former prison guard here; getting hit in the face is more insulting at first, especially when it's a suprise cheap shot, you see a sudden movement then your vision is suddenly obstructed or you find yourself looking in another direction you weren't looking before. About a second or two after that (depending on where the hit landed) you feel pressure (like being underwater and filling your sinuses with air) and on the edge of that, heat. As you focus on your attacker, the initial pain goes away as adrenaline hits and your body goes into fight mode (lower center of gravity, arms up and fists clenched, narrowed eyes and tunnel vision, along with increased blood pressure) and you should naturally attempt to defend yourself, better to go on offense though. It's a good idea to protect your face though, your skull may be thick but facial bones are thin and hurt like a bitch when broken. I don't care how much of a badass you might be; broken facial bones will make you unable to focus on the fight for much longer. Anyway, after the fight, your face will feel very hot and swollen, it'll hurt to chew, talk, maybe even blink. All problems will be compounded if something gets broken.
tl;dr: hurts at first, fight your hardest, take some aspirin after and you'll be fine.

>>27fucking hell, did you get punched by an inmate?
29 Name: Anonymous : 2015-05-17 01:42
>>1 It doesn't hurt as bad as you expect, at least not at first. Most people don't know how to throw a punch, so their hand usually hurts way worse.
