I always thought of him less as Spock and more as the guy that does the crazy intro the the Mugar Omni Theater lol.
On rereading that Kirk quote people keep using, I have to wonder though, wouldn't Spock find that insulting? It'd be like if a bunch of people were mourning Kofi Annan and said "He sacrificed a whole lot but all I can really say was that at his core he was the most American man I knew".
