Depression thread.

I feel that alot of people on this board suffer from depression, I my self never actuelly had a good understanding of depression before reading about it now.

I realize ive been depressed for at least 5 years, I always just thought about it being a mild problem i could fix, but ive thought about it in this way for so long that ive never snapped out of it. I got lost, and stuck in it, and yes, its true, the longer you go and dwell about it, the harder it gets to snap out of it.

I know this because ive tried several times, and its stuck in my subconscious, its like a anchor pulling me down when im trying.

But i know i can snap out of it, it just takes hard work, and babysteps.

The worst thing is, im so embaressed over it, Ive barely told anyone about it, but know i realise that alot of people is just like me.

Ive tried seeking welfare money but i always got put in place by the workers at the welfare states, telling me i just have to get work and im not qualified for getting anything because, i dont ever say im depressed.

But i feel so guilty for telling them that i am depressed, because i keep grooming my situation telling myself that everybody is a depressed, or at least, a little.

Do anybody else feel this way?

The only problem i see with welfare money, is that the money will only benefit my shitty situation, and make me more comfertable with being shitty, and i know this isnt right, i can see myself in the future being comfertable shitty. Why would i want this?

Should i pull myself together, or should i seek out some help?

Sup OP. I have suffered depression since I turned 16 (I’m 20 now). Had a breakdown after a breakup back in october and got medical help after not wanting to get help for years. Ive got mixed feelings bout it, on one hand my antidepressants clearly aren’t working yet after trying different ones and doses but I feel that it will never get solved if not treated. I no longer feel ashamed though, start therapy in a couple weeks, fingers crossed that its not utter bollocks.

If you think you're depressed you need to find help. You need to find someone to talk too. I've been feeling depressed for a few months now and I know it's hard. But the second I started talking to someone about I felt better. It didn't "fix" my depression but it was the first step to feeling like myself again. Some times it's still hard but, it gets a little better every day.

Also I would recommend anti-depressants if you can afford them. They make dealing with depression a little easier.

Good shit mate, counselling worked for me after a few close calls and major depression from about 15-18. It really does help, especially since you get to know yourself better and how to be happy.

OP, you're doing better than you think even just accepting it. The sooner you get help the better, don't keep stuff bottled up. I used to have pretty much an addiction to self harming and ended up breaking my hand punching a wall after about a year and a half of not cutting anymore. You can do it, just stick with it. Everyone has days and maybe weeks or months they feel horrible, but you just need to know you're strong enough to get through it. The human body is capable of incredible things, but the mind can do better, you do have it in you to get better, and as anon above said, therapy/counselling work wonders. If you need help then find it, you've said you're depressed here, the next step is telling someone you trust and asking for help. Doesn't make you any less of a man, anyone can do great things in life, but not if they cut it short by their own choice. Be that guy to do something great anon, you'll be able to look back at this thread and say "that's the day I started to help myself get better". Keep it going bro.

I assume most people, including me, use /lounge/ in order to ignore the depression we have. With the occasional talking about it. I talked to a few people on Valentine's day when we were all alone. Now I'm back to browsing g dank memes and pretending the depression will go away.

It passes mate, you just need to know you can pull through it, just talk to someone, hell if you need someone just say. Was there myself for several years and the second I decided to talk about it and get help I was back in control.

Im trying to stay optimistic and open minded but I’m pretty skeptical that therapy will work for me, shit just seems too rough to talk through. Always good other it works for some though, I have hopes but for the time being I’m still in hell. (its therapy in two weeks....anon)

Same here. I've heard it's called "numbing". I used to numb with vidya too, but I lost interest in that (maybe because of the depression). I started talking and counseling a few weeks ago but it's still a lot easier to numb than deal with my feelings. But I've started liking video games again! So that's nice.

Usually the amount of time I spend on /lounge/ is directly proportionate to how depressed I feel. That being said I had some sort of epiphany the other night and I think I know how to get out of it. I've always hated myself and that's where a lot of problems stem, so from now on (I have told no one about my plans because of principle) I will eat healthy, exercise regularly and cut back on the sauce in hopes of being physically healthy for the first time I'm my entire life. If that doesn't help me in the coming months idk wtf to do because antidepressants are too.. Numbing

depression is just as bad as you want it to be. If you want to be a miserable faggot, then you're going to be a miserable faggot. Nobody feels bad for you, OP, man the fuck up.

Apparently to the doctor I'm depressed and I should be taking medicine, am I? No. Will I let it bother me? No. I'm just living till I die.
