probably an unlikely place to ask this, but does anyone here work on a boat for a living?

i'm playing with the thought of working as a seaman or a fisherman, but i have no idea how it is.
is it enjoyable? does it pay well? is it hard to get into?

Extreme hard work, incredibly shitty hours, laughable pay, smell you can never get rid off so you become alcoholic to dull the senses, every part of you is either bruised cut or rheumatic but if you love the see you will like it.

I sail in Adriatic though. Don't know how it is on open ocean but I think it's even harder.
