Anyway, lets have a discussion. Say we create an AI in the form of a humanoid android sort-of being. It is used for scientific testing and experiments. The AI becomes conscious and self aware of its existence and situation. When the testing is finished and the AI is about to be destroyed some consider how incredibly intelligent it really is and wonder, does it not have the rights and privileges of a person? Wouldn't destroying it be considered murder?

What do you think /lounge/ is a self aware AI considered a person and would it technically be illegal in the United States to take its consciousness via destroying it? Why or why not?

I don't think so. We kill other animals all the time. I believe that in order to be protected you must be a citizen. In order to become a citizen you must be a human.

While the pro life would try and say it's not alive and doesn't deserve rights. How ironic this is.

Because its about androids gaining sentience and killing off the human species, to rise and create their own world.
