Shoplift thread?

I recently started stealing regularly from Walmart. Nothing too fancy, batteries, some groceries, a pair of $60 headphones. Just one or two items on each of my regular trips.

I check out in the self check out and just don't scan the stuff, put it in a bag and walk out. Its been super easy and I haven't gotten even close to being caught.

Anyone else do this sort of thing?

no, because I contribute to the economy

stole shit tons of food from Tesco while being a uni student. Times were tough. The method was the same, just dont scan half the shit and pay for the other half.

How would that even work? Unscanned barcodes set off the security towers?
6 Name: Anonymous : 2014-12-21 00:00
Liars,if you put items into your bag without scanning they will be detected by the weight sensor and you have to remove it before you can continue

Don't be a sketchy fuck. Don't put anything in the basket you won't be prepared to buy legit if it looks like someone's watching.

I mean, that's pretty much it.

You can even steal stuff with an anti theft device on it if you are ballsy enough. Go through the self check out, don't scan it, scan the other stuff. Then go up to the little kiosk area and say "I just bought this, and need you to remove the tag. Wave the receipt around, and chances are they won't even look at it.

They remove the device and you go on your way.

Best to try this when it's pretty busy, obviously.

No they don't... rfid's set of the security system

lying faggot detected. Self check out goes bonkers when you put an item in a bag and it wasn't scanned

LOL WHAT

Bullshit you faggot liar. That's your hypothetical way of stealing. Nobody is just gonna remove the security tag without confirming payment
11 Name: Anonymous : 2014-12-21 00:02
I don't really care when people steal shit from corporate places like Walmart, but if you ever steal from a family/independent business, you're a fucking cunt.

Inform me further. I am intrigued.
Poor college student here

I think it would work if you scan one thing, and throw something else in the bag with it.
14 Name: Anonymous : 2014-12-21 00:04
>>13
No. It's weight detected.

There's nothing to inform you of. Dude is just a hypothetical shoplifter

Also as a former employee of wal-mart I can tell you that this would not work. Anytime there is an item with a security device on it, it will prompt the person working the self checkout stand to go and remove it.

I would tell you how to get away with it , but i wont.

Don't put it in the bag while it's on the scale you fucking autist.

Jesus.

It's not rocket science. You have shit in your basket, you scan some, put it in a bag, put the bag in your cart.

Then you put some more shit in that bag without scanning it.

lol That's ridiculous. That tower doesn't know jack shit except an rfid passing through. 90% of the items in a Walmart don't even have those things.

I'm not saying waltz out of there with a PS4 or some shit. But you think they tag bacon? Or ice cream? Or printer paper?

I like taking shits on the floor at Walmart. I usually go in between clothing racks, squat and drop my pants and let it rip.
21 Name: Anonymous : 2014-12-21 00:10
when I steal Walmart shit, I use the self check out, too. I make it look like I don't really know what I'm doing but know enough to not need help, scan stuff, fill bags, put them into cart with unscanned stuff while burying and sneaking into other bags things I'm not paying for.

Thank you! Jeez. It's not that difficult.

I'm willing to bet that the sensors can only detect when weight has been added to the bag and if you don't scan an item first its going to set them off. The only way it would work by weight of individual item is they not only would have to keep a database of the exact weight of every item in the store but the sensors would have to be damn good. Especially seeing that much of the weight sits on the counter at these things because the bag isn't completely hanging on the metal rod things.

I see your point, but I believe they would RFID them. Any loss is a bad loss.

I used to do a similar thing only I'd peel the barcode off a $.25 soap dish and put it on a $30 bottle jack or something similar

They don't put EAS tags on food, toiletry items. They do however do on headphones.

LP fag here.

I'm gonna go ahead and call bullshit on you because I've been going to Wal-Mart for years and never got approached at the self checkout like that. Had to go up to the stand and have them remove it enough times that I normally just go to regular line anymore.

I'm not presenting this as a theory. It's fact. Go look at your food. there are no tags on it. You can literally walk out the door with it and that tower isn't going to do shit.

How else does self check out work? Do you think the check out register sends a magic beam to each item to disable the hidden tag?

They have aprox weight on database. Whoever it is easy to get by it because many items correspond to 0.00lb to the point were purchasing an item and placing it in the bag sets off as if youre stealing. I do this all the time with small items

That is exactly what happened to me. Bought a movie in self check out, took it to the front, lady never even asked for a receipt, just took the plastic thing off and let me go.

I'm not saying it's foolproof guys, but the option is there.

I assumed scanners deactivated some form of tag inside the labels. I know not too much about shoplifting apart from the basics of sliding small items into a long sleeve and securing them under a bracelet

>>32
You assumed wrong. It just scans the price.

I'm talking about stealing untagged items.
34 Name: Anonymous : 2014-12-21 00:16
Best tips I can give you is don't steal anything too large.
The bulkier the item the harder it is to conceal it.
No bags, backpacks, gym bags, etc. They will watch you like a hawk.
My most efficient method was carrying a razor blade or picking one up in the store to pitch later
Cut the package, conceal the item itself, finish with a quick small fee buy. Self Checkout is a new technique. Unscanned bar codes don't set off the security piers, the magnetic cased strips inside the packaging does. Don't set items you have paid for in the bagging area. It has a weight sensor with a certain weight per item scanned. Pitch packages & wrappers under the shelves in a secluded part of the store they wont find them until months later leaving you in the clear. I've snagged a solid couple thousand dollars in minor stuff over the years. Any thing you could think of really. Medkits, knives, bb guns, headphones, hdmi cords, pc game codes, A LOT OF FOOD, shoes, couple hundred dollars in beer, lighters, etc.

Interesting. So for things that I'm not sure would be tagged, is there any way to tell? such as running ones finger across the label to feel for a tag?

yeah be white, go to wal mart, find an aisle without any cameras. make sure there aren't any employees stocking adjacent aisles, sometimes they peek over into your aisle. be on the lookout for anybody following you/watching you funny. after you load up take a few laps to make sure this isn't happening. Check near the exit before you make your escape to be as sure as you can that there will be no surprises. everything should be removed from packaging. If the buzzer goes off because you were too stupid to remove a sec. device or if one was embedded in a product don't freak out, chances are they'll let you walk especially if you've purchased something. don't hit the same place all the time, or at the same time every time. don't wear a trench coat or anything that makes it super obvious. play it white is the key and cardinal rule

I also semi-accidentally stole into a gig. It was at a bar with an upstairs, which was where the gig was held. There was a table with two seats at the top of the stairs, next to the door to the stage, and two men were sitting at the table. They were supposed to take my money but I just walked past, thinking the pay desk would be through the doors. When I got inside, I noticed my friends had an X drawn on their hands in black felt-tip pen, which marked that they had paid. It just so happened that a few weeks before I had found a Sharpie on the floor in a club and put it in my jacket pocket, so I drew my own X. During the interval we went to another bar to get drinks, and they looked suspicious when I showed them the counterfeit X on my return, but they didn't say anything. £5 to me.

I can't count the number of times I've bagged up all my stuff and then checked the receipt to find I didn't pay for a few items, but that was the first time I ever managed to not pay for any of it. It only amounted to £15 though.

Plus another time I got a haircut which was supposed to be 11.50 but the credit card receipt said 1.50, I signed it and left. Badass, I know.
