I'm 34. The prequels were poor in story, had glaring errors of judgement and overall felt unattached and unreal. The originals feel immersive and the actors allow you to build up a direct rapport with each character. You want to carry that on through your viewing experience because the new ones, by all accounts so far, are going to be pretty decent. Time will tell if they come close to the originals but they will certainly be better than the prequels. As such, given the continuity of the story (the new ones aren't pre-prequels) as well as the good chances that the new characters will actually be relatable in a good story, it seems foolish to watch the awesome ones first and then piss on that experience with the prequels. It will sully whatever comes next.

Someone who's never seen any of them has the opportunity to see how good the new ones could be by experiencing the originals in context of the steaming turds that were the prequels. Every Star Wars fan got fucked over royally by the prequels, it's unfair to inflict that on to a Star Wars virgin if it can be avoided.

If there were no new ones coming out then I'd agree that watching the originals first is the best thing to do. But there are new ones coming. So it's not the best thing to do anymore.

TL;DR: watch the shit first, experience the good ones second = better chance of a good experience for the new ones = better overall Star Wars experience.
