So tomorrow is opening match for the 2014 world chess championship between Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand.

sure, carlsen may be no. 1 right now, but no one can deny that anand is a great player, if not greater.
hell, anand managed to kick carlsen out early in the tournament once iirc

I've always felt anand is the stronger tactical player. Magnuses strength on the other hand is to slowly but gradually wear his opponent down, finding the best playable move again and again, just waiting for the other side to make a mistake. then bam!

true, and carlsen is a very formidable opponent in that regard.
but anand has been called one of the most creative players around.
he's capable of being very unpredictable; its kinda hard to figure out whether he's actually pinned down or just feigning weakness
nevertheless, the match would definitely be a great one, but i for one am pretty sure anand will come out on top

well he definitely needs to take bigger risks and play more aggressively than last year if he is to win.

Haven't been paying attention to chess since January, so idk how well either of them has been doing. I'd like to see Vishy take back the title though.

It'd be good to see Anand get another couple years at the top before Carlsen takes over. I much prefer his attacking play
