I would build a light box for close up shots that don't require background. You'd probably still need some work lamps at the very least. Make sure they're the same type and same temperature though. You can build one pretty easily with PVC piping.

op, DON'T shoot cooked food. Everything will look better raw. add a bit of steam during post-process.
