Hey /comp/, I need some help. So I recently inherited a gaming desktop (Studio XPS 8100 I am pretty sure) and I have a massive issue: It won't connect wirelessly. So now, I have to get a wireless adapter. Any help? Hopefully there are some good ones from Bestbuy or Brookstone, they're like 20-30 minutes from my place.

OP something like this is good. don't be fooled by stuff that's like $200 that says 1800mbps. you'll never achieve that speed.

ideally you want an external antenna that you can put up off the ground, the antennas that stick out of the back of the case suck

This. It sounds like you don't have a wireless adapter installed. You probably have a wired connection since most motherboards have networking built in.

PCI wireless cards are pretty cheap and this is easy enough to do, but if you aren't sure you can handle it have a tech at a computer store do it. All told, should be less than $100 to have someone else do it
