It's been out for a while so I'm sure most people who wanted one already have one, but meh, what the hell.

Just picked it up today. Now first of all, yes, I'm well aware that Android is better in many ways, and I was actually considering going for one, but, I decided that since I don't use my phone for anything really technical, and I don't even use very many apps, it wasn't necessary. I opted to stay in the iPhone ecosystem, and as a result got the iPhone 7.

Tbh there's not much to say because, as expected, it's not a drastic change other than increased performance in every way. It's lightning fast, the camera is great, the screen size and resolution is awesome (just got the standard sized one, not the Plus), 32 gigs of storage is more than enough for me (options exist for bigger storage anyway), and the form factor is sleek, as per the usual Apple fare.

Is it worth 900 Canuckian dollhairs? Sure. Comparable Android phones, size and performance wise are around that price. If you're into more technical applications and want more customization and control over the phone, you're probably better off with Android, but, if you're used to the iPhone ecosystem, already have a bunch of stuff on iTunes, and/or have an older gen phone (like the 5 I upgraded from), then this is a very worthy upgrade. Also, I've read this is considerably faster than most newer Androids, which is nice if, again, you don't care about more bells and whistles, and just want to do your typical stuff more quickly.

Also, the no headphone jack thing is no big deal. The phone comes with an adapter for the lightning port, and the bundled Apple headphones just connect straight to the lightning port as well. The phone has better battery life than the previous gens so I'll never need to charge and use the headphones at the same time. Objectively speaking sure, it is kinda lame, but practically it's no big deal and tbh the cleaner form factor and the extra speaker room is kind of nice too.

Gud phone, would recommend.

Apple are really loving the adapter solutions. Guess that isn't anything new. When you see anyone with a Mac, they always have a bunch of adapters with them. Generally they have a lot of weird, boneheaded design choices. Like their power supplies not having a cable to and from it, so that it either hangs off the wall or blocks other plugs. Maybe it's just so they can sell you more overpriced adapters?

I haven't used an iPhone (would never dream of paying that much for a phone), but they have the worst looking, most cluttered designs I've seen. Whenever I see one, I'm always reminded of this: http://i.imgur.com/06ccWVk.png

Hahahaha, I know what you mean but to be honest with you I've never minded it only because I remove the clutter, leaving only the apps I actually use onscreen. It still looks a bit cluttered, sure, but everything is just right there, easy to click on. I don't have a ton of experience with Android, but, you appear to have to take one or two extra steps to access certain apps and whatnot. Not a big deal but slightly less efficient imo.

Huh, my issue with my iPhone was that finding some apps, tabs and settings options was a bit messy and required more clicks than it necessarily ought to. I prefer my android but because the software ecosystem is more open, the experience can definitely be bumpier even though it is more satisfying to use.

On my Android phone, I just have the apps I use regularly on the screen and then just access all of the apps with an extra click. Had to change the launcher because Huawei's OS mimics the way Apple does it. I prefer the way the desktop is handled on Lumia's Windows 10, though. A lot of information and apps while still looking stylish.

I've yet to find a phone I'm completely happy with, though. Hopefully Android picks up their game someday. Wish they'd start copying what Windows Phone have done since their Windows 10 update. Glance screen. Double tap. OS-wide dark theme. Useful swipe actions for Gmail. Notification counts on app shortcuts. Being able to effortlessly switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data.

I agree, each phone has something unique but is also missing something that the others offer. I do actually miss the Windows Phone, I'd probably have one now tbh but I find the lack of apps...disturbing.

Same as Rolex and Nike. Luxury-brand, so they can wildly inflate their prices. Their newest laptop costs upwards of $4300. You could buy two enthusiast-grade gaming rigs for that money and still have money left over. Almost exploitative.

Aside from what >>8 mentioned, Apple is great at consolidation. They make money at every turn, hardware, software, accessories, service, you name it, they don't just have a hand in it, they own it.

Right but what I mean is they sell their hardware, whereas typically you will buy a windows computer or android phone made by another company, like Asus or Sony or whatnot.

Well, yeah brah, look at the numbers. Highest revenue, highest profit, most valuable assets, and highest market cap over the past year (although Google's parent company may have surpassed them momentarily). It's one of the top 10 biggest companies on Earth and one of the top 5 biggest companies in the USA. The profit margins on the iPhone are fcking ludicrous at an estimated 70% for the iPhone 6. Meanwhile Samsung is lucky to make 9% on their hardware.

$900 for a phone so that you could keep your iTunes library? A phone, not a gaming PC. This puzzles me, having never paid for a smart phone. I always got my upgrades for free based on the credit that I accumulated through my provider. I hope you at least partially did the same.
