This is good news, brahs. Looks like I know what my first 4K Blu-ray will be.

I'm disappointed with the line up. It's all films that were released in the last year or so, and are already on blu-ray, I'm sure that's because it takes no effort to put those in 4k. I'm definitely not buying anything on 4k I can get noticeable cheaper on normal blu-ray.

Meh.

I'll hold out for the 8K in a couple of years.

The Martian had a 2K digital intermediate, so it's a pretty idiotic choice.

I guess it is possible to do a better 2k-4k treatement that what your player or Tv chip do in realtime and I think most movie have 2K digital intermediate.

I'm not sure human eye can do a much of difference with a normal tv screen between 2k and 4k at a normal sitting distance:

According to this, resolution higher than 1440p start to be noticable with an over 100 inch screen when you sit at 10 feet of the screen and it take a bigger than 70inch to do a difference between 1080p and a bigger res at that distance.

4K is a scam unless you're watching either 1) on a 70+ inch tv or 2) sitting 2 feet from a 50"

Wasn't Spider-Man already mastered in 4K, amongst a few other blu-rays?

Those movie will be released on a Blu-ray with a 4k resolution.

Mastered in 4k, is scanning the film with a 4k scanner, with that scan you can make VHS, DVD, 2k Blu-ray, etc...
