From a Science Fiction perspective, I'm curious what /sci/ thinks. 9/11 happened in 2001. We currently exist in 2015.

If 9/11 had never happened, how do you think the world would be different?

I think we (USA) would've steamrolled over everyone except the Communists. Their numbers are simply too great.

I don't think we can do time travel, but BTTF is epic.

Most importantly, the Patriot Act without it would have been at least delayed.

Considering they've been trying to pass it since the original WTC attack and the OKC attack, something else would have happened to push it through.

Jesus, that's a tough one seeing how much of the U.S.'s foreign policy has been shaped by the war on terror.

I think if it wasn't 9/11 it would have been something else and a similar chain of events would have happened. Just prolonging the inevitable with how lax U.S. airport security was back in those days.

We'd have a bunch less intrusive government oversight in the name of MUH FREEDOMS in western nations, other than that I don't think there would be many significant changes.
