'YIFY' are the new 'aXXo'.

DISCLAIMER: This has got nothing to do with the ongoing yfiffi spamming.
Remember aXXo? Only 3-4 years ago they were still the rage in the world of film piracy. But then they had to shut shop and YIFY took over. Of course people are going to prefer Blu-Ray quality over DVD, hence the rise of YIFY was inevitable.

Ah all those axxo memories. I used download his torrents like crazy back in college days. Then he just disappeared suddenly probably because he got threatened by all the lawsuits against Pirate Bay and other torrent sharing sites.
Now for the past 2-3 years Yify is coming out with good quality torrents. His format is usually mp4 since he does BD rips as against axxo whose files were always avi as they were dvdrips.

Difference is that YIFY also do a lot of older films. But aXXo only did new films mostly.

YIFI are a complete joke, I honestly have no idea why they're so popular. Bitrates of approximately 1 Mbps? LOL! They can keep their pixelated crap, I myself will continue downloading AMIABLE and SPARKS rips that have bitrates close to 8-10 Mbps. Not to mention, YIFI aren't even a proper SCENE release group. The scene has very strict rules, YIFI would never pass those rules. Screw YIFI and their crappy encoding.

I am not very picky about such things so it's okay by me. Although even I would never dl a genuinely awesome looking film like 2001: A Space Odyssey or The Holy Mountain or Tree of Life on such low resolution.

I download YIFY when I'm on my tablet and have limited space. For ~1.5GB, they sure can get a good 1080p rip

These aren't real words, and, by the sounds of it, they're full of crime and idiocy. "Oh, I'm not going to spend $10 on a movie. I'll download them, and have to pay another $10 in my power bill instead." Yeah, real clever.

>>7have to pay another $10 in my power bill instead
Not where I live.

I have no idea what either one of those is/are/means.
Please explain.

>>9People/groups that pirate films/tv etc. for mass downloading. Basically they just copy films, compress them and upload them for people to download onto their hard drives. Some of these people are rather prolific, and downloaders will debate which 'rip' is better (the answer usually being the one that is less compressed, as that means better picture quality). When you go to download one of these files it's usually apparent who the uploader is from the name (aXXo, or YIFY or whatever it is).
Basically unless you make a habit of infringing copyright to download films from torrent sites, there's no reason/need to know who they are.

ETRG people!! Ganool and some Anoxmous.

>>11Anoxmous are good, too. Just not as prolific.

Ganool are good but annoying that they put in a ganool disclaimer 30 minutes in of everything for 3 minutes.
You stole this movie and put it out there, do you really need proof that YOU were the one stealing it? lol.
Also, when the heat is on and the cops come for ganool it's gonna be hard to deny that they ripped all those movies.
ETRG is shit... It was fine before I had a HDTV but on HDTV ETRG looks absolute shit.

A) Foreign films do cost a lot where I live.
B) Many of them are not officially released.
