c is good for low level stuff
(stuff closer to the machine, not "simpler" stuff)

It's the defacto language for large projects that aren't internal corporate applications and instead need to be efficient at the expense of portability. Like video games.

It's worth learning, but if you want to get in quickly and easily for a mediocre salary then go with Java.

Once you know C++ it is pretty easy to pick up java, since Java has similar syntax and less features than C++ and automatic memory management.

That depends.
C is pretty concise and doesn't really take a lot of time to learn.
C++ on the other hand has much more stuff to learn.
Depends on the place you're looking at, too. Some places will have no problem training you in the language, but you can spend a lot of time going from a solid basis of most of the things to learning the nuances of all the things...

I forgot, it also depends on the kind of work you want to do.
Application development is not too big on either of these ATM.
Sure, application back-ends, libraries, or drivers and embedded stuff can be written in C and/or C++, but most higher level things like the actual application front-ends and crap are written in more modern/higher level languages a lot of the time.

Do you know any programming language right now?

Computer science major here.

C++ it's being a pretty good introduction to programming for me but in my opinion I have come to realize that it seems very, at least based on my current knowledge and what I want to do.

Good luck programming internet apps with C++
Good luck programming mobile apps in C++

Good luck finding a job with C++ that does not include programming smart missiles.

All and all so far is a pretty cool language but I can't wait to learn Java next semester. Is a great language and I have made some cool apps but.. even if you get to a proficient level with C++, everything I have learned so far indicates is only the beginning.

heh.

This. I can't overstate how complex C++ is. At a basic level it's not too dissimilar to other languages, but it's basically a clusterfuck of historical crap mixed with modern crap and hundreds or thousands of rules and exceptions to rules and special cases that can fuck with your shit.

If you want to really do more than scrape at the very basics, expect to invest years of time.

C++ is the Common Lisp philosophy.
