Oscars so.... diverse?
1 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 10:40
The Academy nominated a record number of POCs this year for acting awards. This comes one year after the ceremony came under intense criticism for their lack of black nominees in any major category.
My theory is that after the blatant whitewashing of last years oscars, black actors just went out this year and gave it all they had, and hit home runs. I also think that the lack of diversity in last years show inspired Hollywood writers to create stronger, more relatable characters for talented black performers
All I know is that this is definitely not blatant, sickening pandering in any way, shape, or form, and that these would have been the nominees for 2016 no matter what happened last year. The open mindedness and forward thinking of the Hollywood elite never ceases to amaze me. What a wonderful group of absolutely genuine people.
2 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 10:45
Agreed in every sense. I look forward to the day when there is not a single non-Jew white actor nominated in the Oscars as well.
3 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 10:47
I look forward to the day when there aren't any anti-Semites on the planet.
4 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 10:50
Of course it's pandering, slappy.
D'uh?
Affirmative Action Awards all around!
5 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 10:59
Of course it's sarcasm, slippy.
Every time I think I've laid it on thick enough, someone like you shows up.
6 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 11:01
I expect each speech at the Oscars to be an Anti Trump speech.
7 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 11:05
TORO CACA
What a racist post
Last year was NOT a whitewash, those actors just weren't as good as the others
It happens
This year will be blatant pandering based on race
8 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 11:42
It certainly isn't a coincidence after the backlash from last year and the boycotts. The Oscar people didn't want the same bad press so they caved in to political correctness. The usual race baiters will find something to whinge about like when Denzel and Halle won in the same year.
9 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 11:50
It's quite telling that you don't consider the "usual race baiters" who "whinge" the people from last year complaining about lack of diversity, but rather from the early 2000s, when most of the coverage from that night was positive, and the only whingeing you heard was from the "how come Denzel only wins when he a bad guy, yo" crowd
10 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 11:57
I also think that the lack of diversity in last years show inspired Hollywood writers to create stronger, more relatable characters for talented black performers
You do realize that half of 2016's films were already in production by the time the Oscars So White thing started, right? These super diverse scripts had all been written already.
11 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 13:52
So you started a thread to say "hey I didn't see any of the films nominated, but based on the race of those involved, I can tell you da blacks didn't deserve it!"
And here you probably thought you were just being clever and not an idiot
12 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 17:21
So you responded to my thread to say "hey I didn't see any of the films nominated, but I'm sure it's purely coincidence that the year after there's a controversy about not enough black nominees, they set a record for the number of black nominees."
And here you probably thought your snarky response was substantive, insightful and not the work of a blatant fkn dullard.
13 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 21:13
How about see the films before judging?
I mean, I'm fairly certain your weiner is the size of an unshelled peanut, but until I actually see it, I really shouldn't judge. I could be wrong.
Know what I'm sayin'?
14 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-25 23:52
Yes, because I'm sure all the people complaining about the lack of diversity last year saw each and every film on the slate, and knew based on purely scientific reasoning that Str8 Outta Compton was snubbed only because of racism.
I mean, I'm sure your filthy pussy has had more people admitted than a Star Wars movie on opening night, but most people don't see every single Oscar nominated film in a given year.
Know what I'm saying?
The fact of the matter is that exactly one year after race became an issue at the oscars, a record number of black actors were nominated. If you honestly think that was an organic occurrence, you really are a useful idiot.
15 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-26 00:33
Stopped reading at "Yes".
If you haven't seen the films you really have no *beep* clue.
16 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-26 01:22
Stopped reading at "
>>15"
You could've seen every movie ever made and still not have a fkn clue, sugar tits.
17 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-26 02:53
Liar. Although I do applaud you for using the term "sugar tits". Gotta give credit when credit is due. Thanks Mel Gibson.
18 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-26 03:03
Wouldn't Mel Gibson have made a Jewish remark instead? At least I know you've run out of anything substantive to say. Just keep babbling incessantly, darling. That's what women are good for (that was another Mel impression I guess)
19 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-26 04:15
I bet. As far as Mel goes, he actually did say just that. As he was resisting arrest during his raging anti jew rant he called a female officer "sugar tits". Always found that amusing.
Hopefully i didn't trigger you though...
20 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-26 05:33
Seeing as how this was my thread, and you're the one crying like a little bitch, you probably shouldn't have used the term triggered. In fact, you should probably try to avoid all words which contain "igger". Take it easy, pumpkin puss.
21 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-26 06:43
Alrighty then honey balls.
22 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 07:22
No dumbass I've seen Fences and Moonlight. Moonlight should be a front runner to win
But thanks for being a predictable dumbass and fulfilling my prediction from a year ago
And thanks for confirming that you couldn't afford to buy an original thought if your dumbass racist life depended on it
23 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 08:54
You actually think that this record number of black academy award nominees happened purely organically, and you have the nerve to insult my intellgence?
Thanks for confirming that you're a screwball leftist who will go out of his way to decry racism, even when it flies in the face of common fkn sense.
Dipshyt.
24 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 09:10
Oh look, the dumbass returns
And still trying to review movies based on skin color
And sorry junior, you have no intelligence to insult. I am insulting your movie reviews.
But in all seriousness I do want to thank you for making me right and fulfilling my prediction from a year ago, right on cue
25 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 10:45
h look, the blithering idiot returns.
I'm not reviewing any movies here sport, I'm criticizing the nominations. Since you're so fkn smart, you should've realized as much.
You're insulting movie reviews.....which I never made. That's the sign of a true intellect, I must say. I'm fkn floored by your mental prowess.
What did you predict a year ago, little guy? That the academy would try to save face for what transpired a year ago by going out of their way to nominate non-white actors, and that there would be people who'd call them out on their pandering Bullshyt? Look at you, with your crystal ball. What are the lottery numbers going to be tonight, fckhead?
26 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 11:34
Sure I'll bump your dumbass thread.
You are criticizing nominations for movies and performances. Your crtitixism is based on the skin color of the nominees and you are saying that they are only nominated because of their skin color. So you are saying the movies and the performances are not oscar worthy and you are basing that... wait for it... on skin color and not on the merits of the films themselves.
BTW, repeating the things that intelligent people say, like you keep doing, doesn't actually make you intelligent. It makes you more of a clone who can't think of anything original to say
And what I predicted a year ago, and two weeks ago, was that the problem with pointing out a lack of diversity is that moving forward, more blacks will be given more condisderation and dumbsh!ts like you will whine and complain that they were only nominated because of their skin color
27 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 12:05
So once again we're back to square one-
You know what happened last year at the oscars and how there were absolutely zero nominees who weren't white. You understand that there was a great deal of criticism and even calls for a boycott. So far, you haven't revealed what an easily duped dumbfvck you are
Here's where you go off the rails- exactly one Calender year after the "oscars so white" controversy, not two years, not five- one year after the controversy we magically get a RECORD number of black nominees, and your stupid, mouth breathing ass actually sits there and believes that it all happened organically. That each and every one of the nominees were selected purely on merit.
Had last year never happened, this thread wouldn't exist. I'd take the record number of black nominees at face value and congratulate them on their achievements. Unfortunately, the timing couldn't have been worse and only a fvckin dullard (that would be....wait for it..... You) would believe this was all just a natural occurrence.
Now give me my lottery numbers, you little bitch.
28 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 13:11
Sure I'll bump your dumbass thread. But if this keeps up I might have to charge you
But I will also help you out since you are having such trouble "accepting" the black nominees
Watch the fnckig movies and come back and tell me if YOU believe they deserved their nomination. End of conversation.
Next bump will cost you your minimum wage paycheck. You work part time, right? I'll use your paycheck to by some toilet cleaner, unless you want to come clean my toilets yourself.
29 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 14:34
Do you think the people who leveled the criticism last year actually watched all the nominated movies, smart guy?
I'm having trouble accepting the RECORD number of nominees. Why can't you get this through your thick fkn skull?
I actually have seen some of the movies nominated, by the way, so yet another one of your weak arguments doesn't hold water.
You've been here posting longer than I have today- you really want to talk about jobs and doing productive things? What a crying little bitch you are!
I'd actually prefer it if you didn't respond. You inane yammering is adding nothing to the discourse. Still, I know you will. My minimum wage paycheck (good one!) is in the mail, professor.
30 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 15:54
Whether or not the movies deserve the nominations is subjective in nature. There is no objective standard by which to judge the movies in question. Biases, particularly subconscious, can affect your judgement even if you really believe you are trying to be objective.
And if you don't think what happened last year with the boycotts and protests cannot potentially affect those subjective reviews, then you are deluding yourself.
Granted, there is no way to prove it one way or another, but you seem to think there is. A belief which is misguided.
31 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 17:23
I hardly ever agree with the nominations, or the winners, so I stopped watching years ago.
Andrew Garfield got nominated for Best Actor, but Hugo Weaving didn't get nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
Garfield was good in Hacksaw Ridge, but Weaving was better.
The best performances, or films, aren't necessarily being recognized anyway.
I doubt half the members of the Academy even watch the nominated films or performances.
32 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 18:43
So you mean to tell me that Oscars are mere participation trophies now? Who could have predicted that?
33 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 20:22
the idea that racial diversity should in any way factor into the criteria for deciding arts and entertainment awards is beyond stupid.
34 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-27 22:57
black actors just went out this year and gave it all they had, and hit home runs.
Blacks have always given out good performances. They just were never recognized. Have you seen Barry Jenkins other films?
35 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-28 00:57
I can feel the hatred oozing out of that tongue in cheek post.
Fyi, I agree with you, Adolf Hitler. It is joke.
36 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-28 03:24
Im Adolf Hitler now because I espoused an opinion..... which you actually share? You're a fkn odd one, aren't you, buddy?
37 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-28 04:56
No....I call you Adolf because I've seen your other racist posts....
38 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-28 07:13
Everyone knows why and I honestly can't imagine a black person being okay with being pandered to like that? Isn't it a bit insulting to be nominated over someone else primarily because of your race?
Someone on here called this happening a couple months ago...Wish I could remember who.
39 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-28 08:32
Yep.
My main gripe is with the makeup of "the academy."
40 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-28 10:58
The insult is the assumption that the nomination is only because of their race.
Minorities can't win with some people. If they aren't recognized for their performances, they simply weren't good enough. If they are recognized, it's white people throwing us a bone. If they create their own awards to recognize their contributions they're being racist.
41 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-28 12:34
Again about the Oscars? Who really cares?
Even though more blacks were nominated in the acting categories, does anyone expect anything socially relevant from an organization that gave a piece of fluff like LA-LA LAND 14 nominations? And once that film racks up 7 or more wins...will anyone even care about anything else?
42 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-28 14:02
So, does this mean we'll see a group of Asian or God forbid, Latinos pushed to the front for the sake of diversity this go around? Who would want such an award?
One has the impression that diversity equates to black.. and give it up, whether earned or not, doesn't matter, everytime.
Enjoy your affirmative action oscar. It's worthless.
