Why is 2016 a bad year for celeb deaths?

Death happens.
We don't have a personal connection to the celebs who died.
I bet they wouldn't give you the time of day if you met them.
Big deal.
Get over it morons.

Humans are not the only species on earth.
We just act like it.

Well, Jennifer Lawrence wouldn't.

Carrie Fisher would

It was a bad year because many high profile celebrities died that year.

Whether or not celebrity deaths are any more tragic than non-celebrity deaths (which they aren't) is another issue.

Because, for better or worse, a certain entertainer may represent a period of our lives we remember fondly.

For instance, Prince's music probably conjures up memories for people of 'good times' 20-30 years ago, when they were younger, more active, and probably less obligated to certain life commitments.

I read years ago, and I find this to be accurate and astute?

(paraphrased): "We aren't actually mourning for them as much as we are quietly mourning for ourselves, our time going by".

I think that explains it, other than the shock and surprise when someone 'famous' dies very tragically, whether it's young, or by violence, homicide, car accident, drugs.

Quite a few of them were only middle-aged and not elderly. Prince, David Bowie, George Michael, Carrie Fisher, Alan Rickman, Alan Thicke. Anton Yelchin was very young.

We're going see an increase in the number of celebrities as the actors, musicians, celebrities and various other famous people from the 60's, 70's, 80's, where there was an increase in entertainment and celebrity, enter the age where illness and death becomes much higher.

Seemed like a pretty fine year to me!

On the plus side, I outlived all those losers!
