Cemeteries are 100% useless.

The whole concept behind them is retarded as well as being a huge waist of resources.
We pay thousands of dollars for caskets only to bury them in the ground to never be seen again. There's no way anyone can defend this absurd concept. It's all for show. A dead person does not care about about its casket. It's 100% emotionally-based without absolutely not one mole of logical reasoning as to why our culture does it.
Then we have this useless, meaningless waist of land called cemeteries. They give nothing back to the community in any way; they are one large waist of tax-payer money all for show. And people visit these cemeteries for no tangible reason; if you want to think about a loved one, you can go to the park, nature, or anywhere; society has convinced people that if they are inches away dead person's rotten corpse, they are somehow closer to that person spiritually. It's all pretty silly.
It'd make more sense if a dead body was turned into a tree, that way loved ones could visit the tree. That's a lot of beneficial and meaningful than seeing a useless tombstone which doesn't give back in any way.
We could benefit from those dead bodies for science, compost, fertilizer, food for oceanic creatures; instead we waist them for no logical reason whatsoever, for an emotionally-based tradition.
We waist the land when it could be used for job-creating factories, low-income housing, lofts, drug rehabilitation centers. This shouldn't be a debatable issue. There are no two sides of this debate. Cemeteries literally give nothing back and they are a literal waist of space. There's no defense.

And what makes you think our taxes go towards that?

Can't speak for America but in the UK the gardens are maintained by the church which gets its money through donations and helpers who do it for free.
The actual gravestones are maintained by the families.

Cemeteries can also create jobs for people. You lose.

You know what's even worse? The fact that you can't spell "waste" properly.
