TOTAL MURDER FIGURES:
UK (pop 64m appx)murders: 653
USA (pop 315m appx) murders: 14,827
(figures from 2012)
Surely most can spot that there is a slight anomaly where the USA is concerned?
Curiously, if we remove murders by firearms from the UK numbers we get about 600 remaining. If we remove the 12,000 or so murders by firearms from the US figures we get around 2,800 which is more or less the five times or so we would expect if we went per capita, the USA having five times or so the population that of the UK. From this we could speculate that the easy availability of guns gets 12,000 more people murdered in the USA than would happen if the USA had UK style gun laws.
To me it's obvious- the easy availability of guns to the general population translates into easy availability of guns to the criminal fraternity too and therefore the easy availability of guns to ALL potential murderers. The opposite seems to be true too.

Remembering too that you can get a gun licence in the UK. I intend to get one myself. The UK isn't a gun free zone.
