The Right's attacks on Nikki Haley

If the Republican Party wants to quit being seen as a haven for bigots, they really need to kick out the bigots. Since Haley, the daughter if Sikh Indian parents, happened to mention the crazy idea that Republicans shouldn't fall back on bigotry and xenophobia in response to the threats facing the country, a whole mess of right-wing talking (air)heads have come out and spewed racism in her direction. The funniest part is all of those people snidely remarking on how she should be deported, and how, as an immigrant, she can't possibly understand "American values". News flash, Nikki Haley is not an immigrant. She was born and raised in South Carolina.

In defense of the Republicans who have been attacking her, she DOES have brown skin, so it's only natural to think she must be an immigrant. *wink*

One fruitcake (can't recall her name) even implied that Haley's birth name alone (Nimrata Randhawa) was proof that she wasn't a "real" American. This is reminiscent of the Right's fondness for referring to Barack Obama as Barack HUSSEIN Obama (with the middle name often capitalized), as if they've somehow won a point by reminding everybody that his middle name is Hussein.
