Same here. I remember hearing about some Latino singer being murdered by a fan in the news. That was the first time I ever heard of Selena. Outside of the Latino community, I don't think she was very well-known.

It's sad, cause she was recording her breakthrough album of songs in English, and with 2 of the songs she'd have made it big time with all Americans.

Just tragic on all counts; she was young, she had just gotten married, she was about to make it big, and the topper is that she was murdered by her fan club president.
