So why do they love it? BBC makes thecbeßt documentaries in the world. The US has lame stuff like Frontline or those history channel documentaries.

Agreed. In fact, most of the good stuff you see on the History or Discovery channel was purchased from the BBC.

PBS makes good documentaries as well.

Enjoy them while you can. For reasons which baffle me, the UK government is determined to dismantle the corporation. I don't watch much telly anymore, but BBC radio and the news website are fantastic:
