It is not something that will have happened in couple of years. Well, if you'd be OK with US troops not having immunity from prosecution, there would still be US troops. That was the sticking point in the negotiations. Iraq is its own country. They wanted US troops out. Unless, of course, they would be willing to take responsibility for their own actions. Something which they, apparently, were not.

Hence, when you say "we can and should", do you have any idea what you're talking about? Are you saying US troops should've stayed against the will of the Iraqi government? In other words, the US should occupy foreign soil by force? Does that sound like it would work out well?

The Iraqi government did not want US troops there anymore. It's their country. What do you suggest? Should the west have re-occupied the place by force? Is that your "solution"? For how long? At what price? What difference would it make in the long run? Do you think the sectarian factions would suddenly drop their arms, kiss and make up?
