The FBI statistics might give a hint why.
In the year 2013, there were 2454 murders of blacks in which the race of the perpetrator was known, and in 2245 (91%) of those the perpetrator was black. In 209 cases, the perpetrator was a different race. There were also 37 cases where the race of the perp was unknown.
Protesting the everyday occurrences might not get enough attention.
