Funny. I meant issues such as the high homicide rate in Baltimore mentioned in the OP. Problems like that mean USA will never be as high on the best nation - lists as, say, the Nordic countries.

The way he sees it is that the United States could be made "better" whereas the Scandinavian countries are locked into a particular geography and climate that aren't always desirable. America on the other hand runs from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, without being too far away from the poles or too far away from the equator, as well as having a part that borders the Arctic Ocean. Fortunately or unfortunately, foreigners envy the United States for disparate various reasons. Most of them envy Americans' liberty and their spectrum of opportunities to live arbitrary lifestyles and partake in art/innovation within relatively diverse geography. Very few don't care about the United States at all, because quite honestly most can't, as American influence is so invasive around the whole world. Some people have the decency to compete with the influence in an honest way, whereas others want to block or obliterate it by any means necessary, bringing the "fight" to enemy territory notwithstanding.

The US will never buckle, bow down, or accept occupation like the Nordic countries either.

You want guns, and the Devil will have its due. You're not going to cheat the Devil with sob stories of guns killing innocent people, because if the Devil had a heart it wouldn't bring people to God on their knees, and only then will they be saved from the bargain with the Devil for guns.

I posted this months ago. The homicide rate in Baltimore spiked upwards in May, and that rate corresponded to an annual rate of more than 70 per 100,000 resudents. That would place Baltimore at the top murder spot in the USA, and roughly third worldwide.

By the way, there were at least four more homicides since that article was written.

The reaction to the Freddie Gray incident has cost Baltimore about 100 lives.

These movements don't seem to have their priorities right. It ain't cops thats the worry.

The residents are ok with killing each other, they just don't want police involved in it.

Cops should be the least of their worries.

Stands to reason... The Baltimore Waterfront has long been recognized as the hub for black market firearms sales in the northeast. Well stocked with firearms moving up from Southern States with lax gun laws, as well as some smuggled from overseas, Baltimore has attracted underground arms buyers for many years. In addition, stolen firearms flow to Baltimore due to the numbers of illegal gun buyers present.
It only makes sense violence would follow.

But I wonder why "those darn cops" in Baltimore allow this well known black market trade to continue? Makes one wonder...

We need to do two things.

1. Force the NRA to provide a list of their members involved in these killings.

2. Pass more gun laws against legal gun owners.

It doesn't fit a narrative of the political left that will dupe people into voting Democrat, though. So, largely, this will go unreported.
