Just saw this on CNN. Republican representative Martha McSally was interviewed by Anderson Cooper on how to stop ISIS. Her solution started with:
A) a comparison of ISIS (a terrorist organization with cells and resources spread out sporadically in many different countries) to Iraq (a country with an established infrastructure, government and armed forces), and how in desert storm we had a lot more air strikes than we are doing now. So more bombs!
B) Anderson easily countered with: we are bombing what we can. It's not like there are easily identifiable ISIS armed forces bases out there just waiting to be bombed. It is completely unrealistic to compare ISIS to Iraq as they are not structured the same and therefore demand a different response.
C) She went on to say: Okay, yeah ISIS is hidden among the population and our problem is our rules of engagement that prevent us from incurring too many civilian deaths. We need to go ahead and just bomb them all ignoring how many civilians are caught in the crossfire!
Anderson ended the interview (lunacy!) there.
I was appalled at the complete disregard for human life that this politician showed. No wonder Islamists are so pissed off and causing all of these attacks. I guarantee you for every civilian killed in a drone/air strike, is a brother or uncle who takes up arms becoming the next terrorist. When will the cycle end?!
