This is fairly old news by now, but I'm not from the UK so it's largely new to me. I just started reading about the sex abuse allegations against him and they're nothing short of staggering.

Today cliff richard got questioned by police over abuse claims, haven't read up on that yet so dunno what's the deal there...

There has indeed been an influx of these cases in recent years, but Savile seemed to be the most extensive offender. The sheer number of people who had to turn a blind or eye or outright enable him is about the closest thing to a real life Illuminati than I can fathom.

The collective guilt we all feel that he was allowed to get away with it for so long means that anyone expressing skepticism regarding claims he skullfúcked the corpses of dead downs syndrome kids in front of a cabal consisting of Lord Reith, Nye Bevan, and Dixon Of Dock Green is screamed down as being part of the conspiracy.

It all has such a large amount of hysteria attached to it, doesn't it?. He was dead so the press and Joe Bloggs et al could say what they wanted and it immediately got accepted as fact.

Would actually like to know what has and what hasn't been "proven" in any way that would stand up in court.

The accusations span about six decades. 450 or so incidents over that period isn't so far fetched.

Yeah, as far as predatory sex offenders go, he was about as bad as you can get.

It didn't help that the media, the public and the British establishment conferred on him a considerable degree of sainthood while he was still alive. I always thought he was a bit of a slimy creep, myself, but what did I know?
