Why do young women dress more conservatively.

Now than in the 2000s? This has happened once before in my memory, in the 1980's, both male and female fashions became markedly less sexualized compared to the mid and late 1970's, but that was during the AIDS panic and what not.
Compare typical young female fashion today to the 1990's up until circa 2005. You know what I'm sayin.
No need to explain further. The question is why. My informants on the streets tell me that most of it has to do with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Gwen Stefani (who adopted a "slutty hot" stage persona) no longer being popular, while more conservative singers like Taylor Swift are in vogue now.
Then again, there is no guarantee that these people know what they are talking about, and I myself am I no position to know anything anymore.
Makes sense to me but that sucks!
Thank you.

Fashion styles come and go without much reason why.

Actually no, there are usually reasons why, or at least plausible arguments to be made as to why. Many times the reasons are political. (i.e. the French decollétage style fell out of favor after the French Revolution, etc.)

Yeah there are times when that would be but right now I don't see any particular political reason. The way Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey and all dress looks great and sexy to me, much better than the other singers you mentionned, so I don't think there would be any reason beyond that.

Neither do I. That is why I was wondering. Glad you enjoy the new look.

Leaves more to the imagination, I guess. All that 'less is more' mantra and that. I dunno...global warming, perhaps? (or not lolz)
The 'indie style' where girls have the jeans and t-shirt look has always been a very good look.

I, per usual, Blame Obama.

It's because of fat shaming.
The positive body image gals started letting it all hang out, providing the fat shamers with smoking gun evidence.
Covering up is like wiping off the fingerprints.
