To Christians here, if God exists, then why...

... do you revere him exactly ? Is someone who sends people in Hell when they don't obey some rules he made up worth revering ?
Belief in the Christian God shouldn't lead to praise, it should lead to revolt.

3 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-28 15:16

4 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-28 15:24
lol i can't go into too much detail, suffice to say, there's more to him than meets the eye...
5 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-28 15:37
I find that very difficult to believe.
6 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-28 15:44

7 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-28 15:52
Because they're afraid of him.

>>6Did you know they were telling him to not smile. Of course using it as reverse psychology.
9 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-28 16:06
>>8It wasn't reverse psychology, he wasn't really supposed to smile. It's more like a "happy accident".
10 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-28 16:11
>>9Well that's why it would be an example of reverse psychology. What you mean is it wasn't intended.
11 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-28 16:28
Yeah, they weren't using it as reverse psychology.

I'm not a Christian, but Jesus was a cool cat and worthy of reverence. And he (He) was, according to Christan dogma, God in the flesh.

I think God is a pretty cool guy, eh absolves all sins and doesn't afraid of anything.

I think Lucifer is a pretty cool guy, eh rises in the night sky and doesn't afraid of anything.

Yes. 10 commandments are basic rules for any civilized society and the fact that 95% of Earth population doesn't follow them says that our world needs to be destroyed ASAP.
I know I'm going to hell but I revere God for another reason: I hope he'll kill all people I dislike before I die, so by the time I arrive in hell their souls would be burned and I'll have one less pain in the ass.

I don't know which the 10 commandments are exactly, but there are certainly things Christians see as God rules whose morality is arguable, and even considered immoral by most non believers. For example viewing homosexuality as a sin is something that most people don't agree with nowadays.
The point is one person alone cannot decide what is moral and what is not. It is subjective and bound to vary across civilisations and eras. Morality is something humans have to figure out for themselves as they evolve and try to do what is right.
And on the subject of Hell, punishing wrongdoers by giving them eternal suffering is not worth revering. You don't answer to immorality by doing something even more immoral, that's not how it works. The point of justice is to prevent criminals from doing more harm. Beyond that, it makes no sense to "punish" someone, what we should do, if we can, is help them become better persons. We must focus on improving the world, not on taking revenge on those who hurt it, which is a useless and immoral endeavour in itself.

I'm surprised that you took my semi-joke post so seriously.

No really. Murders, stealing, pedophilia, incest, Prometheus sequel, they're all immoral in 95% of civilizations and 90% of eras.

The answer is very simple. God was invented by people who wanted political power, so naturally they speak of him as all-powerful and very angry. God doesn't actually exist, but if you can get the masses to believe, you have them by the balls.
There's no reverence for God. Only fear.

Okay, then why don't you answer the question ? ...

Because revering him is the most important rules, it appear like 3 times in the 10 commandments, the fact that he can send you in hell if you don't seem one of the best possible argument to revere him.
