I watched going Clear and it was a terrifying film. Though how much of the film is actually true is another matter. According to the film the group became sick on power.

What is especially scary is when is when if someone in a famliy is cast out from their family and friends if the dont choose to follow the same religion as the others its like the religion and its people are they are their only social network and then thats all taken away poof if they deicide its not for them that is a tragedy

I would imagine that same thing happens in every religion, or use to anyway. Islam is pretty much the same way still, except they would probably kill their family member not just shut them out.

Scientology has very clear similarities to most religions, it is just that people are smart enough now to see through it. No one questioned religion 1000 years ago because their was no science to disprove their beliefs.

Scientogists beliefs would have been no more insane 1000 years ago than any other religion, because nobody knew any better.

No for Christians the o the way I have experience is that members like children growing up are encouraged obviosly to stay in the faith but if they decide if they decide not to stay then hope is they will return but they dont get branded an apostate or shunned sumply for not going to Church like scientology

Christians' beliefs for example are just as silly, and I'm not gonna assume all of them are nut cases because of that. Also there are different degrees of Christians, they will believe to varying degrees to what is in the bible. I guess it's the same with scientologists.

Also you're focusing on a few stupid things here, while I'm sure there are also many good aspects about this religion, like every religion does, and that's what may have drawn people to it.
