Getting sick and tired of the America-bashing on here!

1 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2015-09-09 16:58
Folks on here make like as if entirety of the United States is akin some rural East Texas hellhole.

Many parts of the United States are cultured, and possess the same social indicators (crime, education, income, etc.) as the finest spots in Western Europe.

I really don't mind when Europeans and the British poke fun at us, as it's all good clean fun, but what really gets my goat is when Americans themselves talk about this great nation in all the usual smug ways (gun crazy, racist, overly religious, bigoted, etc.) that once again, make it sound like the entire nation is equal to East Texas.

Seriously, are you all religously and socially oppressed, or are you keyboard warriors trying to sound "sophisticated"?

if things are truly that bad for you, just move to a nicer place of the United States, such as:

1. Berkeley, Calif.

2. Cambridge, Mass.

3. Upper Manhattan

4. East Village/Greenwich Village

I mean, what the heck is your beef?

I was about to agree with you, until you picked "rural East Texas" as the worst possible place, or even Texas at all.

Because folks on here make like as if entirety of Texas is akin to some rural East Texas hellhole.

Many parts of Texas are cultured, and possess the same social indicators (crime, education, income, etc.) as the finest spots in the rest of the United States. But nope, I can't tell anyone about the museums, respected universities, great music that is not in any way shape or form "country", cool artists, intellectual communities, and people who have never owned a gun, are not religious freaks, etc, and actually be believed above the sound of laughter.

So, I'm sick of not just the whole of the US being stereotyped the way you describe, but also....Texas. So please pick another state to make your own insults about -- there are actually worse ones.

What I'm really sick of is anyone who hasn't even been somewhere -- or just the airport -- assuming things about it and being completely unwilling to hear of another reality, from someone who has.

good point. Thanks.
5 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 19:01
Why exactly did you select "rural east texas" for your hellhole? I only ask because I retired to rural east Texas. Have you been tracing IP ranges of posters on /newpol/?

To be fair, some young people in America may have a legitimate gripe.

I'm sure being a flamboyant gay teenager in rural Tennessee can't be too fun.

Things like that.

Are you one of those people who believe that criticism in any form is akin to bashing?

P.S. I so hope you get all your accounts to come after me.

Did he say that?

Are you one of those idiots who think asking off-base, rhetorical questions is an intelligent form of discourse, you pompous dumbass?
10 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 19:57
So you criticise someone for not discussing something intelligently, immediately before you start calling him insulting names?
11 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 20:08
Indeed! It's not just any "someone," however.

It's "someone" who is pretty much the most pompous, stuffy, pretentious fool on this board. Just check these two recent exchanges out to see what kind of idiotic thought processes he displays:

Account number one welcome.

I will admit that my memory isn't what it used to be (you can go ahead and use that all you want), but I do remember the thread your other account is referencing. There were criticisms about the United States's handling of certain issues. There was no America bashing (if there was those individuals are on my ignore list).

Now he, er, you, equate(s) criticism of the United States with America bashing.
16 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2015-09-09 20:56
but I do remember the thread your other account is referencing.

Wrong again, numbnuts. You are even so pretentious to claim to know exactly what thread I was referencing based on my OP? Are you psychic? A Uri Gellerite spoon bender now?

Damn, son, you are one ignorant piece of work.

To repeat my OP, I was addressing "when Americans themselves talk about this great nation in all the usual smug ways (gun crazy, racist, overly religious, bigoted, etc.) that once again, make it sound like the entire nation is equal to East Texas."

There are plenty of instances of this on this board. You pretending to know this "thread" I surely was referencing in which "there was no America bashing" does not change the facts.

The fact that you predicated your entire argument on an assumption that you know exactly what thread I was basing my OP on shows your total lack of common sense. Are you autistic, son?
17 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 21:05
You sure fly off the handle easily.

I'm sure you were just referencing a different thread you (as SuperFratBoyExtreme) started that's not the one about giving guns to everybody who wants one.

Or are you referencing the thread with the guy who posted a Nick Offerman link (that sounded strangely like your own opinions) about 'the problem with homosexuality'.

Is there another one I missed. If it is then please link to it, I'd happily admit I was wrong.

P.S. You like to call people autistic don't you? Methinks you're projecting a bit.
18 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 21:18
I'm sure you were just referencing a different thread you

You are often sure of a lot of things . . . that you are repeatedly proven wrong about. Such as being able to rent a car with cash, you sheltered dumbshit.

Never seems to phase your rather puzzling high opinion of your own mental prowess.

To be fair, I think the fat kid only calls you autistic.

In any case, here are a couple examples:

Sadly true - this is a black day for Freedom-Loving Americans. But it turns out it's not as bad as it seems - WalMart will, in fact, sell you a Peacekeeping JesusLoving AR-15 if you can get a signed affidavit from your local sheriff proving that you intend it ONLY for the purpose of ridding the world of

* abortion doctors

* Mooslims

* homosexualists

* that bitch of an ex-wife who takes all your money

https://dis.4ct.org/lounge/read/1441044060 from "Walmart to stop selling AR-15's," and

Well, we can't even adopt the damn metric system when every other country in the world has been using it for decades and it costs the world economy billions every year, and people don't love feet and pounds the way they love their guns. When your whole populace has been conditioned to believe that we are God's Chosen Kingdom on Earth, manifest destiny, defender of liberty, etc, etc, it's pretty hard for most to think that there's anything worthwhile about the rest of the world, except oil we can take, brown people we can bomb, and places to export our juvenile movies and fast food chains.

from "Virginian newswoman and cameraman shot dead on live TV."

Those are just two I found quickly. Not isolated comments by any means.
19 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2015-09-09 21:29
Satire doesn't play well with you, methinks. (The 'Mooslims' and 'homosexualists' should be an indication) I do hope you have more examples.

To be fair, I think the fat kid only calls you autistic.
That makes this the third of your accounts to call me autistic.
Here https://dis.4ct.org/lounge/read/1440604611

I didn't realize I had that affect on a single person.
20 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 21:35
I do hope you have more examples.

What happened to:

Is there another one I missed. If it is then please link to it, I'd happily admit I was wrong.

I link to two and then all you say is "I do hope you have more examples."

So you are proven, once again, to be an insincere, easily refuted, blowhard who can't admit he was wrong. Well, you should get used to admitting you are wrong, because you are wrong about 99% of the time. You're one of the biggest idiots on /lounge/, boy.

Additionally you go from

Now he, er, you, equate(s) criticism of the United States with America bashing.

and, when presented with specifics you yourself asked for, you attempt to fob it off with

Satire doesn't play well with you, methinks. (The 'Mooslims' and 'homosexualists' should be an indication) I do hope you have more examples.

So the satire changes the intent or the message? Think about that some more, dipsh!t. Damn, you are slow. What's even more sad is you have no sense of shame at all about repeatedly being proven wrong while looking like a pompous blowhard.

The other quote meant, the fat kid doesn't call other people autistic, only you.

Once again: Damn, you are slow.

Speaking of examples, you got an example of how Doogie could have bought a car "off the books" yet?

You do realize that when you make an allegation, you have to explain or back it up when asked, right? No more of this, well, trust me, he could have done it somehow.

Asking for the upteenth time now. You explain how, and I'll concede this point about the car (even though it's, as you say, "speculation.")

If you continue to decline to explain your point exactly, I would like you to do two things:

(1) Formally concede the point, and

(2) Apologise to the entire community for being such a pompous twit.

Thank you.
21 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2015-09-09 21:43
I link to two and then all you say is "I do hope you have more examples."

You linked two clearly satirical posts.

So the satire changes the intent or the message? Think about that some more, dipshit. Damn, you are slow. What's even more sad is you have no sense of shame at all about repeatedly being proven wrong while looking like a pompous blowhard.

And in anon's case, he was being critical of the opinions some flag-wavers hold, and not America itself, even though that should be apparent to anyone with half a brain.

The other quote meant, the fat kid doesn't call other people autistic, only you.

I understood that just fine. You (and solely you) are the only one who uses that language through your multiple accounts. I ignore your weak attempts at name calling. I know I'm not autistic so it doesn't bother me.

You do realize that when you make an allegation, you have to explain or back it up when asked, right? No more of this, well, trust me, he could have done it somehow.

No shít. I'm sure you can back up all of your wild assertions right?
22 Name: RedCream : 2015-09-09 21:53
What you're neglecting to consider is that the US is the most powerful imperialist nation on Earth, which consistently wreaks havoc around the globe in an effort to further its own interests, often at the expense of the poorest and most oppressed people around the world. And it does this while pretending to be some kind of morally virtuous, benevolent force for good. It's a nation of perpetual war for profit in the most disgusting way possible. And none of this even gets into domestic issues like institutionalized discrimination. Just think of it this way... the country has to be one heck of a messed up place in order for Donald Trump, who is almost literally a Nazi, to have this level of support and success for his presidential run. A huge portion of the population has to be really screwed up ideologically in order to buy into what he's selling.
23 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 22:04
Even if Donald Trump were a nazi, he'd be less of a nazi than Muhammed the religion of islam sets themselves after: decapitating, raping, pedophile piece of trash (and that's just according to Quran).

So you don't have much alternatives. I personally would give the oil resources to the Westeners.
24 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 22:14
I'm certainly no supporter of fundamentalist Islam, but in terms of the overall harm caused in the world, there is no doubt that capitalist-imperialism is by far the greater evil.
25 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 22:27
No, no. Islam, given the power, wreaks more havoc. It's in their fundamentals.
26 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 22:34
But they don't have the power. That's the difference. Their ideology is extremely horrible, but they represent a relatively small percentage of the people, and they're mostly poor and lack the resources to do any real damage.

Capitalist-imperialism, on the other hand, is the most destructive force on the planet.
27 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 22:41
To paraphrase Winston Churchill, it's the best thing we got (of all the bad alternatives).
28 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 22:48
Good points but 90% of your post concerns the State, whereas the fat kid with acne was addressing the people. As far as

A huge portion of the population has to be really screwed up ideologically in order to buy into what he's selling.

I think it's more a matter of people being pissed off and alienated more than a matter of ideology, but who knows?

My spider sense is picking up much the same rumblings on the streets right now as were found in the early seventies. The major difference is that there is no Vietnam right now. All this is too complex for me. Makes me want to go take a nap.
29 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 22:52
The people supporting Trump indeed feel alienated and angry. But it's mainly racist white people who feel like black and brown people are stealing their country from them. And Trump is essentially saying, "You're right, let's kick them all out so we can have a white paradise." So yeah, those people are angry, but only because they're ideologically screwed up.
30 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 22:58
Most people supporting Trump feel nothing of the sort.

Most feel like we're tired of taking care of the rest of the world while they take over our country.

We welcome all shapes, sizes and colors, if they arrive properly.
31 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 23:39
Trump is putting forward a far-right nationalist platform designed specifically to appeal to the impulses of white racists. His basic strategy and political line is similar to Hitler. He's unleashing all the worst elements of the right-wing with a populist, nationalist, anti-immigration message. He's basically saying, "White people, I will give you your jobs and your country back" by encouraging the dominant racial group to believe they are actually victims in a "PC" race war. There's a fine line between that and concentration camps.
32 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 23:48
We don't often agree >>31 and that's OK with me.

But what I cannot stand is you lumping a extremely large group of people into one category: white racists.

Comparing him to Hitler is another.

I have no doubt that white racists are part the folks support Trump, but you're in position to stretch that into "majority" or "all".

And yes, there are a few cases where white people are victims in a PC war, but that's not what's at stake here.

What Trumps appeal is he has no filter and he's not PC and he wants to make America great again.

You also left out a key word. It's ILLEGAL immigration he's opposing. Clever how you left that part out.
33 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-09 23:54
He's constitutionally entitled to his opinion, it's cool.
34 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-10 00:06
Regardless of how stupid that opinion is.
35 Name: RedCream : 2015-09-10 00:22
Donald Trump is currently following a Hitler-esque blueprint in America. And make no mistake, it CAN happen here.

Trump isn't so much campaigning for office as he is unleashing the most hateful, reactionary forces in society in the service of creating a massive fascist movement, pulling together the worst elements including hardcore racists, extreme nationalists, capitalists, religious fanatics, pro-military fanatics, etc. In other words, he's making it socially acceptable for people to fully let loose their repressed fascist impulses. The other GOP presidential candidates are virtually powerless to stop his momentum, because Trump has been given a huge platform by the mainstream media from which to shout them all down with the most vial, hateful, ignorant rhetoric possible. And the more obnoxious and hateful he is, the more his followers like him, and the more his message resonates with the bitter, angry white people who feel their country is being stolen from them. In the race to see who can be the most obnoxious, insensitive, willfully ignorant, brazenly offensive conservative candidate possible, Trump will win every time and the rest of the candidates really have no choice but to fall into line behind him since at its core his message is more populist than that of the mainstream republican candidates. The other candidates are all scrambling to come up with more polished ways of saying exactly what Trump is saying, but the thing is, the people are getting excited specifically because he's NOT polished and isn't afraid to let his hatred fly openly. He's great at whipping a crowd into a frenzy, since his hateful rhetoric is designed specifically to appeal to the worst in people, allowing them to feel like it's okay to just come out and be openly racist, when before they're always encouraged to keep their true colors under wraps.

Trump is a modern American version of Hitler and he's following a similar strategy: unleashing the most hardcore racist fanatics, stirring up nationalism and xenophobia, race baiting, promising to build walls to keep the dirty foreigners out, openly threatening to bomb all sorts of countries, etc. It's the kind of thing where after he's started WW3 and launched a genocide against latinos and black people where we'll look back and say, "Gee, why didn't we see this coming?" And the thing is... some of us did.
36 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-10 01:03
You make it sound so visceral and exciting!

I like that about you.

If you look like Sam Worthington like you say, you could accomplish great things . . . Woo the ladies. Inspire the men. I know you are opposed to working inside the system, but you can do more damage to the system from inside . . . it was called "monkeywrenching" back in the seventies. Think about it. I see a bright future ahead.
37 Name: RedCream : 2015-09-10 01:28
I looked more like him a few years ago. Since then I've gained a few lbs and gotten out of shape. So now I kind of look like Sam Worthington with a fuller face and a gut instead of a six-pack.

When I first saw this cover of Esquire back in '09, I thought it was actually me for a second. My girlfriend at the time bought a copy and showed it to me, and I thought she was playing a joke on me and had somehow taken a picture of me and photoshopped it on there.

I don't even know where to begin.
39 Name: Anonymous : 2015-09-10 18:35
But it's mainly racist white people who feel like black and brown people are stealing their country from them.

Could be. Those people are a relatively small percentage of the electorate and have existed all my lifetime, they almost all were Democrats until the 1970's. So basically Trump is the heir to that segment that supported Thurmond in 1948, Goldwater in 1964, Wallace in 1972, Reagan in 1976, and Buchanan in 1992.

Over time racial animosity should theoretically decrease but there is the problem of the declining real income of the white proletariat over the last fifty years which keeps them ancy. Their anger tends to get directed at their non-White fellow proletarians rather than at the white elites who sell them out with free trade, union-busting, and other things.

What is the percentage of racist white people in the America?
41 Name: RedCream : 2015-09-10 22:07
>>40
I don't know if it's possible to put an exact number on that. But there are some indicators that I think get to the truth. I think the way white people react to events such as the riots in Ferguson or Baltimore is a strong indicator of whether or not they are racist. I've seen polls that say 58% of white people consider those riots primarily "an excuse to loot", rather than being caused by frustration with the police. That's racism. If you're white and your first reaction to those events is to get more upset about the rioting than you are about the police murdering black people... you're racist, and the percentage of white people who fall into that category as a knee-jerk reaction is pretty darn high.
42 Name: Nabbit !YEjCccy8Zk : 2015-09-11 03:13
Responding with violence to violence is idiotic. I think you may be a racist. It seems that you think white America is the cause of every problem in the world. You need a new shtick fedrev. 58% you are a horribly misguided person.
