Americans think they have the best country in the world because they do. If you dispute that, you must not have been to the US yet. There is no comparison between the US and the rest of the world. We have and are the best and the brightest in the world. That's why the US is the hegemon.

It's simple, if you've ever been to another country you'll know Americans are viewed as loud, obnoxious and dumb the world over, every country ive been to has the same stereotype of Americans, the British are respected world over, the British accent is seen as upper class and is the most favourite out of the many English spoken accents, our stereotype is posh, drink tea etc, this is the best image a country could have, which is why so many people spend money here and London is the business capital. You make fun of our poshness but if you travel it's by far a benefit, manors are implemented sub consciously growing up in Britain.
