I am so sick of hearing this. The actual definition of racism doesn't mention anything about position or power, only beliefs. If you're black and you believe whites are all scum, then by definition you are a racist.

Now if you're going to argue that blacks or other minorities can't use their racism the same way, that makes sense. But it's not the same thing as being incapable of racism.

Of course blacks can be racist. It's stupid to think otherwise. But I don't think if a black guy thinks all whites are scum is racist. Bigoted absolutely.

People who make this racist statement, are unwilling to acknowledge that they feel that the racism of blacks is "justified", and therefore exempt from judgement. The racism of whites, is seen as NOT justified, and is therefore condemned. JUst as it's OK for women to hate men, but not the other way around.

I haven't ever heard an actual black person say this, and I live in a very black area.

Black people can't OPPRESS white people, because they're a minority (and whites will always outnumber blacks here).

Anybody can be prejudiced against anybody, but prejudice without power has no teeth.

Power is relative to the individual's situation. If a white guy is employed by a black guy, for example, the black boss does have more power.

There are black people in positions of power and white people who are powerless. We have a black president. A black business owner or cop can use their power to oppress a white person just like a white business owner or cop can oppress a black person. Admittedly there is much more white oppression of blacks than the reverse.

I'm a liberal, and I've never heard it in real life. No liberal I know thinks black people can't be racist.

You can find pretty much any cockamamie idea out there, but a lot more of them on the right these days.

We have a black President (with a white mother) because he got ELECTED (twice), and he has tried to do well by everybody, not just black people. Were all the white Presidents before him (every last one of them a white man) oppressing everybody who wasn't a white man?

I never said black people can't have power as individuals, and they can exert power as a group, but they're a minority, and will remain one.

And if you live long enough, you'll find out how that feels. Won't that be fun?

There is an unspoken rule among many people not to discuss controversial political opinions with others unless you are in some situation that calls for it. As such, it is not that surprising that you haven't heard it in actual life. It is the reason why many people turn to the internet to vent their more controversial views, away from the judgement of their real life peers.
