Would you trade in your Xbox One/PS4 for a Scorpio?

1 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2017-02-17 09:02
I know I'm trading in my Xbox One. I think MS is going to be winding down on Xbox One this year to give rise to the Scorpio. I'm believing more and more it'll likely be MS's next gen console after all. If it's the beast they claim it is, would any PS4 owners trade their console towards it?

Phil Spencer recently stated that Xbox consoles will have exclusives in the future despite having "dedicated" to Windows 10. So there's an incentive right there.

We're gonna have games that only ship on PC, we're gonna have games that only ship on console.

I know some of the diehard Sony fans won't, I'm mainly talking to those that bought PS4 because it had the edge in power.

Why trade in a PS4 when I can have both a PS4 and a Scorpio?
3 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2017-02-17 11:19
You can do that, it's just to the more casual people who only want the best looking versions of mulitplats and stuff would likely want the better system. I'm sure there'll be a good trade-in deal with those consoles. Why not take advantage of it?

Pc mate.

PC gaming is the worst one and it's totally irrelevant.

The Scorpio is gonna get destroyed by the PS4. The best ports and the games with the best graphics are gonna be on the PS4.

Also, post this on Reddit.

Did they say anything to contradict their -much repeated- verse that they consider this an upgraded Xbox one ("a higher tier"), and both are going to receive the same games? Because that's not a new console, that's a higher spec Xbox One. If you're an Xbox fanatic and have a large TV with high resolution, the Scorpio is for you. If you're an Xbox fanatic but play on an average size TV, then you won't see much difference.

It's future proofed though. Say you want a 4K TV in the future, you can have a game system handy that will take advantage of it. Plus, even if you don't, Scorpio will still be running games at optimal performance for a console. It's a win/win either way.

Isn't that like saying "buy this blu-ray player in case you buy a big TV?" Cart before the horse and whatnot.

4k penetration isn't quite there yet, but it's going to take things like consoles to build up their adoption rate. Just like the PS2 did for DVD. Popular household electronics build off one another.

Besides, you'll still see how powerful the console is without having a 4k set anyway.

Poor little Scorpio is gonna get trampled and destroyed by the PS5 in power and graphics.

It really shouldn't though. PS4 fans started the power narrative this gen as this is the first home console that Sony has made that's been more powerful than the competition. You can't blame Microsoft for wanting to take it all back. Believe me, people want the best, and Microsoft is going to give them that.

You should be grateful there's a new and great console out there to play and you don't have to buy a PC to have cutting edge tech.

You are lying.

The PS3 was massively powerful than the Xbox 360 yet Xbots fanatics always started crying about it when nobody else could give a crap.

The PS4 is massively more powerful than the Xbone yet Xbots started crying out loud while nobody else could give a crap about it.

Sp now here comes the updated Scorpio which is hilarious because it comes not that far from the next-gen consoles, so it's gonna get crushed by the massively more powerful PS5 in no time.

Hilarious!

PC gaming is awful and irrelevant.

I wouldn't trade shit for a Scorpio. Just get a PC.
15 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2017-02-17 23:16
I doubt MS is going to let PC have everything. The PC should only be backup for low selling titles, not day and date releases. From the language MS is using these days, it sounds like they're reconsidering. MS does have tremendous exclusives, and Scorpio being the top console will bring them back to their glory days.

Trust me, Scorpio is going to be a blitz when it's announced, until it's released. I'd like to see it outsell PS4 and Switch. There's just enough of a groundswell there.

No thank you, there's nothing on Xbone that I really have an itch for wanting to play.
17 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2017-02-18 03:06
Not even the best versions of every multiplat on console?
18 Name: Anonymous : 2017-02-18 04:16
Yeah, I already have a console that gives me that.
19 Name: Anonymous : 2017-02-18 05:52
The best versions are on the PS4.

Implying we want the few Xbox exclusives that don't get canceled.

Nope
22 Name: Anonymous : 2017-02-18 08:24
Dont see the point. MS is barely even trying to compete as a first party software maker anymore. If they're now going to limit some of them to being PC only thats even less of a reason to get a Scorpio. I'll get most multiplats on PC and the Sony exclusives on PS4 Pro.
23 Name: SuperFratBoyExtreme : 2017-02-18 09:17
MS will strengthen their first party portfolio more when they have reason to do so. If they get a high adoption rate for the Scorpio, then they'll be compelled to get even more titles for the system. Multiplats are selling consoles the most right now, as we see with the PS4, so MS is switching to that strategy. I have a felling it will work out way better for them.

I don't blame them for sticking to the titles that make the most money, like their big 3. You don't want to get in a rut where you have a bunch of exclusives that don't move the needle. Yes, it's good for gamers to have options, but you also want games that people will buy and remember.

But, E3 isn't here yet. They say they have surprises in store. I believe them. They're probably building up an Xbox 360-style lineup from this point for all we know.
24 Name: Anonymous : 2017-02-18 10:18
There's your problem though. Microsoft can't get the high adoption rate for the (highly priced) Scorpio because it's a high-end Xbox One, which if we're going to be frank is a system that has lagged TERRIBLY behind PS4 when it comes to true exclusives.

Even if you try to ignore PCs, the number of Xbox exclusives this gen has been abysmal. Halo, Sunset, a couple of remakes, Forza...what else?

Meanwhile Uncharted 4 is selling just a bit under all of those combined? Throw in the other big PS4 exclusives and it's not even a contest.

The bottom line: Microsoft absolutely shot themselves in the foot at the start of the gen in several ways (Higher price for lower tech, anti-consumer/image issues, Kinect, etc etc). They just have never been able to recover.

Scorpio isn't something that'll turn things around. It's a high-tech, high price xbox one. It's not offering anything new other than bringing the resolution up for the high-end fps player.

^this. The Scorpio will be coming out when the PS4/PRO will have a solid line up of games.

and what will the Xbone have? more delayed games? more canceled games? The Scorpio is doomed.
27 Name: Anonymous : 2017-02-18 13:08
Funny thing is, Microsoft is trying to come up with this powerful system to try and reel in more gamers, but it is going to flop on them big time. I am willing to bet the Scorpio is what puts Microsoft out of the gaming business. A costly system that not many are going to buy, when they can just play a PC, also a lack of decent exclusives will just about do it.
28 Name: Anonymous : 2017-02-18 14:23
I am done with the Xbone.

I am going to trade in my PS4 for a pro soon.
29 Name: Anonymous : 2017-02-18 20:14
The Scorpio is the stupidest decision ever made.

The Xbone has been quiet solid yet still has been beaten easily by the PS4.

So now Microsoft decides to launch a more powerful version of the Xbone which is gonna be very expensive, will still lack games of quality, it's gonna be launched not many years before a next generation of much more powerful consoles...

All this for what?! To get destroyed? You're welcome!

Terrible decision. Terrible.
