For those who don't know there is a new Mario game coming out on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo have just revealed it will be called 'Super Mario Odyssey' and have revealed some details about it and an official trailer.
Super Mario Odyssey Is on the "Core Side," Like Super Mario 64, Miyamoto Says
Odyssey will be "something that people who like action games can really get into." http://www.gamespot.com/articles/super-mario-odyssey-is-on-the-core-side-like-super/1100-6446935/ Official trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kcdRBHM7kM I think what I like the most about this game is it is a return to the Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine format with free open worlds which I loved and missed in the Galaxy and 3D World games and it also looks similar to Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 which were my favourites in the Sonic 3D games. Hopefully we might get a Super Mario Sunshine 2 next with the return to Isle Delfino.

The more realistically proportionate humans lacking detail and standing next to Mario was a little off-putting to me. The other worlds look better.
I was hoping for the title to be "Super Mario Worlds" but Odyssey is different enough not to be confused.

Control of Mario looks perfect. I'm not 100% sold on the World choices yet, but could be fun. Looks like it has plenty of variety, boss battles, power-ups, etc...
Weird that there was that sand tiger (p cool) instead of Yoshi & those weird Bunnies instead of the Koopa Kids
Bowser still remains the most gentlemanly of kidnappers.... did you see that white tux? M-F'er went all out for that wedding, I'm sure Peach probably secretly is hot for that

It looks like the Mario game we've all been wanting for a long while.
The New York City level was a fun surprise. I was worried it might be the whole game when I saw it, but it's just one dimension. It reminded me of a Tony Hawks game for some reason. The "realistic" visuals of the city looked fairly good, but it made me think it could look much better on other hardware, like the fan-made Unreal 4 Mario demos. Although, I always felt Mario in a highly detailed environment seemed off, so again I'm glad that level isn't the whole game.
The new hat mechanic looks neat. I can imagine speed runners making good use of that.
