You can really see why Platinum was chosen for MGSR with this game. It's got a lot of Metal Gear trademarks, like comm conversations with a female assistant, 80s action movie silliness, conspiracies with the milItaly industrial complex, a sarcastic ciggie-smoking hero, and a fun sense of humor that never goes into total parody. Only played a bit of it four years ago, but picked it up again and fell in love. Mechanically, it's one of my fave third person shooters ever, and scratches an itch that I hope Nier Automata will too. I'd love suggestions for other shmup-influenced 3D action games.

Also, anyone else find it funny how the game is set in a near future where not-President Hillary Clinton is making secret deals with not-Vladimir Putin? Yeah...they were close in predicting the future, but picked the wrong candidate...
