Recore was actually decent, if people gave it a chance. Besides, we know nothing was going to kill Zelda anyway, since Nintendo fans are starved for any game at this point. It's why even half-assed trash like Splatoon can sell well on the console.

Recore might be decent to Xbone gamers but that's because they have no relevant games to play on that console.

At least there was a choice. If you didn't want that game, there was still FH3, GeoW4 and DR4 to play for first party games, and all the multiplats. Wii U didn't even have that. It was a wasteland. The consoles are being recalled from retailers for a reason.

It'll be interesting what sells worse:

1) A tablet that's trying hard to pretend it's not a tablet, running so underpowered it may not be able to run current gen games, much less next gen games.

2) A VR ready, 4k capable machine that'll likely sell WAY above the average consumer's price point, that refuses to be a next gen console and instead is advertised as an "upgrade" to the xbox one, with the xbox one still getting all the same games.

The Scorpio is like some kind of 72 inch 3D TV with all the latest wifi and other hookups installed. I'm sure there's a market, but it's going to be limited to the "financially comfortable". Which does not include the parents/college kids/young adults that make up most of the video game playerbase and/or buyers.

At the same time, the Switch is obviously, terribly underpowered and is more a Wii U tablet controller/3DS successor than a Wii U successor. Nintendo seems to think that there's this terrible problem for gamers not having access to their family TV all the time, so it has to be portable some of the time...but still way to big to be truly portable, IE pocket sized.

Phil Spencer says the price range is supposed to be reasonable. Their whole purpose is to gain back the ground they lost with this machine. That's not going to happen by bringing a console out that prices them out of the market.

They'll release a system that'll be top of the line in all respects, even if it means taking a loss on the hardware. I have no doubt the Scorpio will be the first "flawless" console.

It will be a huge success compared to the Switch, which will end up being a Wii U redux.

Reasonable to Phil Spencer and other execs at Microsoft means something very different than it does to the average Joe on the street. Remember that this is the same company that choked out of the gate with the Xbox One's high-price launch recently.

Well, it was high because it had a Kinect included, which they quickly remedied. But it didn't matter since MS was able to drop the price by an extreme degree anyway since they're made of money. They'll do the same with Scorpio if it debuts too high. I doubt they will since it'll be cheap to us from the get go.

I know you're concerned about the price when you finally get to buy one. But, don't worry, while it'll cost more than the slim, the slim will likely be $199 by then, meaning Scorpio will be like $349-$400 when it drops.

I know you're into exaggeration, but let's not get silly now. VR capable alone means north of $500. Being able to handle 4k at any kind of respectable fps makes it even crazier.

The PS4 Pro can half-ass a few games at 4K right? I bet you MS will say that some Scorpio games will be 4K but most will be 1080p/60fps. Also the original PS4 can do VR with the PSVR's little hardware expansion pack, so I'm sure the Scorpio will be able to handle it on its own. I'm also willing to bet that VR on the Scorpio will actually just be out of the box Oculus Rift compatibility, which could be interesting. If I had to put money on it, I'd say $499.

People also have to realize that this being an upgrade console technically makes it cheaper than a brand new console. I bought the XBO for 499 when it launched but also bought another controller and I think three games, which means I actually spent closer to 800 on it. With the Scorpio, I already have a bunch of games (assuming it is fully backwards compatible, which it must be or else it'll be a failure) and controllers, so all I really need is the system and maybe one new game, so it'll be just under 600 out the door.

It'll be the usual cycle of Nintendo fans buying up all the consoles so they can exploit the other hapless Nintendo goons, by reselling them at astronomical costs. And then be left holding the bag when the demand for the console takes a nose dive.
