This was my first time playing a Dynasty Warriors game and I gotta say, yeah it's kinda just a destroy fodder simulator, but on the other hand I think the game would have a lot of strategic potential. I really like the concept of having to conquer different bases and outpost, I just wish there was a way to order your troops around.
Maybe when Fire Emblem Warriors comes it will focus more on strategy and leave it up to the player which bases to conquer first and which one they must absolutely hold?

There's a spin-off of the series, Dynasty/Samurai Warriors Empires, that's similar to what you're describing.

Thing is that it still has the problem the regular games (and I'd assume Hyrule Warriors has) of your army being completely useless. You still have to run around and do everything yourself to the point it's not even worth bothering changing their orders from "Automatic"

They've also been dumbing down the strategic aspect over the years too.

I mean the game was hyped up to be "a bit more than warriors" but it's not, it's just your standard DW cross over

That being said, as of late the musou games have seen a bit of a quality jump, if you had to ask a long time fan, the series isn't for everyone but that's what I've always admired about it, among a crowd of bullshit and industry giants pandering to anyone they can and spreading resources too wide, musou games still stay musou games, and the fan service ones like One Piece 2, Gundam Reborn and now Hyrule are some of the best in my opinion

Ehh, true, but at heart I just meant it's still mostly a Warriors game, and normals/plebs are going to come in to the game expecting something crazy and probably end up shitting on the game for being "another DW clone" when, despite it's positive changes and additions and attention to detail with different weapons, it really does come down to being another DW game

I just got a Wii U a month ago.
I used to be a huge DW fan (spent over 2k hours on DW4) but I didn't play the latest DW games because I wasn't that into my PS3.
I have never been a big Zelda fan (I grew up with a couple of Zelda games), but I guess I should get that game right?

I wonder if the infini-rupee's bug is still in, the amount of cash it costs to level up your characters is still just as stupidly high as always.

I disagree. The difference and improvements are there
